I like this... Maybe try pushing some colors a bit. Calvin Liang is a great landscape painter to look to or Matt Smith, who this kind of reminds me of.

Thanks for the feedback. Being compared even a little bit to Matt Smith is a compliment... He's one of my favorite plein air painters. I'll have to check out the other artist you mentioned.

Looking good.
Maybe some lighter and darker colours, then it will look even nicer. :)

I like this just as it is. Not just 'a scene' but real statement about something, yet not forced or melodramatic. Lets see some more!

Very nice. You nailed the greens. It might be just the photo or my screen but the tall dark trees seem a little dark. You can also see if more edge variation might help. Is this plein air? It is so hard to do good landscape/plein air in Florida but this is great! Even Richard Schmid said he had the hardest time painting when he lived here.
Are you still studying/painting with Flynt?

mars,
No, it's been awhile since my time with Doug. We still keep in touch. This is closely based off a 6x8 done Plein Air.
As for the trees, those pine trees struck me as that dark in comparison to the rest of the foliage in that overcast light. You couldn't see much detail unless you focused in on them. With all that illuminating natural light I also liked having a nice heavy dark in the image. It helped sillhoute the center of interest as well. Just asthetic choices. I adjusted the edges minimally to create depth but don't like mussy all over anyway. My rule: if it reads it's right.
Are you familiar with Doug?

I haven't met him personally but we've talked via phone/email about my studying with him. I eventually decided not to coz of the long drive 1-2 days a week. I don't have a good history with long drives and my car sux.
If you're up in my area and want to paint out just message me.

Will do. Know any nice landscape vantage points?
Did you ever make the trip to Doug's studio?
