hey all,

I seem to never post in this section... You people scare me. In a good way ;)

Anyway, wanted to dump some of my fine art stuff, mostly landscapes and a couple of still lifes. Most of these are from this year, though the first two are from '06. It goes more or less chronologically.

I get so used to seeing concept stuff here in the FF section that I forget other things can go here as well.

Alright, enough blather. ART:

You have some great talent with those oil paints!

Looking good in here Oregano. Some of them look like watercolor but I don't mind, shows how you can use 1 media to produce a likeness of another. Is this your backyard or are you just imagining the landscapes?

These are all really, really gorgeous. I love the landscapes in particular. This sooo makes me want to try my hand in oil painting. Keep up the good work and please post when you can.

Wow. These are really great. Especially the landscapes. I don't mean this as a backhanded compliment or anything but if I saw your digital stuff and this side by side I wouldn't know the same person did them. These blow your digital stuff out of the water. Very, very nice. I'm surprised you hadn't gotten more comments.

Graighter Thanks! :teeth:

Stark It's my backyard :bashful: (almost literally!)

BigMouth Thanks! Oil paints are just fantastic. I've been painting with them for years, on and off, and just love them. I've used several other media and they are my favorite above all, including digital.

Ostrander It's not a backhanded compliment at all. My illustrative style and fine art style are completely different. Truth be told, I can work in several styles, but it's only a couple that I actually like and work in frequently :[

Serpian So glad you like them :rendered: The blue one with three trees is the view of Mt. Baker from the entrance to the cul-de-sac that I live in, and the field is some farm or another in Mt. Vernon.

Craig D Thank man. The boat was a lot of fun. Took little over a week to do, before and after work.

MorteM Have I ever told you how much I love your avatar? :} I do post, actually, but am rather shy about it. Usually you'll only see stuff in my sketchbook or over in the CHOW threads.

Thanks all for the kind comments. I will post more as time allows me to get them done. Things have been rather hectic, so haven't had as much time to paint as I'd like. Mostly it's been digital right now, but I've got some new pieces planned, so who knows?

Cheers,
~Oreg.

Hello, Shane, how are you? Hope you are doing great!
I returned to your paintings several times. I didn't quite accept it in the first time, I felt some restrain when I looked at it earlier. But after repeating observing they grew up on me and I started to like this stern, reserved place... This nature is like a certain personality: man of few words, laconic with modest colors, personality who doesn't open readily.
I still say the paintings make me feel quiet and sad, I feel cold and lonely, with no one around me n the whole world wrapped in cool air all around me.
Even more joyful to look at the delightful, warm teapot. There is always something humorous and optimistic in their carefree profile, stuck up nose and overweight figure. Yours is really pleasant to look at after wandering with wet feet trembling from a wind in your airy fields and valleys.
Chronologically the teapot and orange warm flowers should be the last paintings... I wish it was some comfy chair and blanket and dish of hot fundamental meal as well, meat and potatoes or something... bananas will not do it for me after so much walking... :)
So thanks for the walk together in the foggy day... :).

hi shane,
I must admit a fondness for the glowing teapot... looks like magic tea.

as for the landscapes they ar enice, but I confess they seem a little lifeless and formulaic. Id like to see you take some new view of the scene rather than making it as trite and pretty as it no-doubt is

hard to do I know
<3

oh and learn to spell plein air plz k thx

sve Thanks for the feedback - your crits and observations are always the most interesting to read.

chaosrocks Um. Yeah. That felt a little harsh, there choas. Not too sure how to respond to that. Sorry you don't like my landscapes. Not sure what to tell you there.

Shane, are the first and third big paintings? I like them more with each new visit. Really tough nature, but I'm starting to need to look at it again. Are they expensive? :bashful:
