I´m getting started on a night scene oil painting and was wondering if anyone had any basic principals on selecting color, controling values etc., before I screw it up too badly. I´d like to avoid that monochromatic blue thing.
Or, if anyone has some favorite night paintings, I´d be delighted to see those too.
Thanks in advance.

Achieving a nighttime feel and look will mean that you will want to shorten your value range to 4-6 values at most, and generally adjust the chroma of your colors more to the gray.

Sve - that´s beautiful. And not particularly ¨night¨ like in an interesting way.
Thanks Seedling - I was hoping you would link to those.
Verdaccio - I´m assuming that the values are grouped together but anywhere from medium to darkish, depending on the amount of ambient moonlight or whatever.
