Whoopie! The AIS concept art club is reading this over my shoulder
and we are ecstatic that it is across the street from the school,
actually connected by a sky bridge!

They are donating their hair, selling their jewelry, drawing
caricatures on the street ;) to make money.

This is going to be amazing!

donating blood!! do not forget the blood.

we would need shirts that said " I sold my body to come to the conceptart.org workshop."

Hopefully we get enough signups to cover this giantest ever list of instructor flights and hotels. Otherwise I will be making a shirt like that for myself!! If we do get enough signups my shirt will have to say "I sacreficed my body to come to the workshop" because it is proving to be a ton of work this time...was up til nine am today and back up at noon. feels good.

:)

Looking forward to seeing you all.

They won't take my blood :xpld: been to too many crap hole countries...anyone know of any good hotel deals near there?

Jason Manley
October 15th, 2007, 02:14 PM
we are negotiating the hotel deals this week. Plz have patience there. Do get your flights done if you are coming...waiting will only cost you money...so if you can do it early, all the better.

Great choice of location Jason. Close to Pike Place Market and Pioneer Square where a lot of galleries sit. You also have the Seattle Art Museum and the sculpture park just a stones throw away. I also wnated to point out that there is a student hostel just south of there in next to Pike Place Market, could be an oppertunity for cheap sleeping arrangements :)
I also wanted to offer any info any may need about the area. I'm local and I'm in and out of the city all of the time so I could always look something up or offer assistance if need be.

This is going to f*&k'n rok! I'm shaking with antiiiiccciii pa tion!

I don't know if this is exactly the right place. But if someone needs a place to stay then you can always try Couchsurfing (http://www.couchsurfing.com/)

Hey Jason and M.B. doods. I'm not sure if you have a company set up yet to do the visuals/ projection for the event. If not there is a local company that does a great job and is really very friendly.... Blue Danube Productions.

www.bluedanubeproductions.com (info@bluedanubeproductions.com)

Another thought as well. If you are interested in using any fire acts..there is a local group called Ignition Northwest. They are tied in with burning man and with the Black Rock Arts Foundation in San Francisco. I do know someone affiliated with them and could give you contact info if you would like. website is here http://www.ignitionnw.org/ looking forward to a spectacular workshop!

I'm so thrilled you're bringing such a fantastic event to my home town. Thank you, Massiveblack!

I'll be there. And from now until January, I pledge to be more involved with this site. I miss coming here, and I got so busy and caught up in life. I wanna jump back in the game, and this is a great motivator.

I remember everyone nixing Seattle a few years back for being rainy, and then we had it in San Fran and it rained sideways. :D

Quick question. Times? I know Insomania was really late-night oriented; will this be the same way?

Stark
November 4th, 2007, 04:47 PM
BludHund: He said in another thread that this will be a day time event, to allow people to use the information they learned. Look for it to be around noon, if not earlier. I think Manley said some time around 10:00-10:30am.

I'm not sure if I'm asking this question in the right forum, but are there any plans for a workshop in '09 or '10? I can't make it to this one, but I'd like to be able to plan on a future one.

<sigh> Looks fun, and I miss Seattle...grew up there. I bet this will be one great workshop.

Thanks,

Julia

We try to do workshops about once a year (sometimes twice). It just depends on the scheduling. '09 and '10 are too far in the future to give you a definitive answer, but I think all intentions are to keep doing the workshops as long as people enjoy them and costs are being recouped.

Hi Emily. I'm new here, and I'm trying to check on availability to your next workshop (Revelations).

After chasing my tail trying to figure out why Insomniac 2oo6 is posted on the Current Workshops page and whether or not Insomniac is actually happening in 2oo7 "in Florence" (Italy?)--I'm under the assumption that Insomniac is old info, not current and evidently not happening in Florence or anywhere else.

So, Revelations is the next Workshop? Is this correct---even though it's not on the current workshop page? And it is in Seattle WA, Jan 4-7 2008? Is it totally booked? I need to make accommodations plans, airfare.. etc.

any help w/ this info would be extremely appreciated

The website for the workshop is here: http://www.conceptart.org/workshop/

I don't believe the workshop is sold out quite yet, but we do expect it to sell out.

I just now randomly found out about this Revelations thing. How much does all this cost to get in and participate? Is there an entrance fee? And does each workshop cost something to get in? How does it all work? Forgive me if these questions have already been answered, but I tried to throughly glaze over everything and didn't see anything about price. Thanks!

The workshop is $600.

Hey all, it is a very busy time for us as we get close to the workshop. The event is not sold out quiet yet so please send Melissa an email at melissa@conceptart.org with your tuition questions or call her during normal business hours of 12-6pm pacific time at 415-344-0069. We appreciate your patience and look forward to seeing you all at the show.

I got the basic dates off the JM thread, but I was curious as to what time events would be starting? I see there's a party on Friday night and was wondering if this is actually kicking off the event or if it started Friday afternoon?? I have to work and was wondering whether to drive up Thursday or Friday?

also, is there one place that has alllll the information for the workshop? Its hard to find here. i suppose maybe things are still in flux.....

I went to montreal and know that this will be another amazing event!! I'm psyched that I can drive instead of having to fly!

Can anyone tell me the start times for Revelations? I'm late in finding out about the event and will have to pay at the door, but I can't seem to find any kind of event curriculum with start times, breaks etc...Thanks.

Not sure if you are coming in from out of town or not but I would make sure that there are still spots available before coming down. You can try checking the forums here http://conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?t=113197 or sending a pm to someone in charge to find out. I know that they were looking at filling up. BTW- start time on Fri and Mon are 10 am and Sat and Sun are Noon.... check here for more info.... http://www.conceptart.org/workshop/info.shtml# look under cirriculum.

Good Luck.
