ye selfportrait thread (big download) + tiny update

g'day dear conceptart community!:yayca: today I got alot of photos from a small show that me and my classmates had at my uni. We did a mini exhibition each and all the art students came and we discussed the stuff and all that. Mine was highly appreciated seeing as I was the only one who had free gingerbread. So yes, I hope you like the stuffs!:^^: this is the result of 3 weeks of selfportraits. the mediums at hand were clay, acryllics/oils n pencils.

starting of with a plaster sculpture that I paniced together in one day, using plaster, wood strings, naiols and fiber rope. Its a guy infront of the computer, (holding a mouse.) I tried to get a very rough feel to it with lots of nails and rope and clumbsyness in the shapes, but with some smooth areas. I'm pretty pleased actually considering I'm not much of a 3d guy. anyways, less talking more showing:

Then there's this clay thingy where I wore a blindfold and had to feel what to do instead of seeing it, to make you think more in 3d. its only the bottom part which is any good. just imagine a very small top part with swollen eyes.

oooooh yes. the class also did 10 small self portraits each, though my plan was to do 9 and hang them up in a square, but I only managed to complete 8 'til today when we showed it all to the other artstudents at the school. this is my series:

now this is the thing that I worked the most on. Its a big acryllics painting, a self portrait.

to conclude it all somehow, heres a few pictures of the exhibit as a whole.
i went for a controlled chaos thing, to illustrate the mess at the place I work. theres a mouldy salami sandwich inthere somewhere.

oalexis - thanks you! I like them too... underthere is a set of real ugly hands, so I'm glad I pulled them of better the second go. But still alot aint showin in the photos. subtle things that make a big difference. I hate it how much photos take away the fun from paintings... but meh I should stop complaining and make stuff good enough to win over that. hah, sorry for the speech misstra!:D and thanks for the words.

oalexis - hah, i just tried out some stevie wonder ref'd slang for mister... That ninth one was a bit of a problem. I ran out of good bodayparts to use, so I was down to stuff like nipple, bellybutton or in the worst case cawk haha. I was a frightened to do the last one seeing as how it was a self portrait and the model was me. I was saved by the lack of time, so that gave me an excuse for not doing it.:)

mortem - haha this could go on forever! and will end up as a knife fight to the death. (NNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!)

general f - I think that english id highly preferred sinse its an international forum based in the US, but a little swedish is fine I think. I'm trying to keep it down a little tho. the school is in the south west of skåne, near Ängelholm, so I commute for now.

...really like the acryl painting... although it isn't that realistic it shows much character and is interesting too...

I have one question, how old are you? I ask this because in Germany you get your degree with around 18 or 19 to go on an academy but you have to do 1 year "zivildienst" wich is a socialistic work...
I can soonest go on a art academy when I'm already 20... damn ;)
