heck, even though i draw every day at work, i'm forced to hide every little sketch i make, which is a pain. i stayed at the office for two extra hours on this friday, to paint for myself a bit. here is the thing:

Oooooo, digital Jia Alai!
Another great piece Sparth. I love the motion implied by the ball's retinal after image.
The guy's outfit is totally kickin it too.
But best of all is that liiiiitle touch of red that really sets the piece on fire. Just enough to draw the eye and give the piece a whole palette of implied color yet small enough to blend right into the whole piece.
Great work!

Man Sparth...that comment about hiding sketches at work is so true. Let's see, how about everyone start listing the different creative ways they've come up with to hide sketches during work hours.
I've got the mandatory blank sheets of paper at the ready. If someone breaks that invisible "too close" barrier around me I just throw them on top of my sketch. If you have an extra wide wrist rest, between that and your keyboard you can almost cover an entire 8 1/2" X 11" sheet of paper. I've gotten as desperate as taking post-it notes and a pen with me into the bathroom! Ugggh! The opressed artist is not a pretty sight. Someday I shall laugh at them as I give my 2 week notice!
But I digress...Sparth, great piece!

nice image sparth!.
what is such the issue with doing a drawing? is it they think u r wasting time? dont they knwo what ability they hired u for had to be cultivated by dong waht u do?, esp if u get your work in , it shoudlnt matter. what is the excat issue? thats crazy to me. i freelanced for a company in house and i couldnt belive after hours how the IT guys would come ina rifle through peoples stuff on their computers , looking for innapporiate unrelated drawn images done by staff artists , well i wish u many more covert ops
i certianly hope where u work understand how lucky they r to have a talented artist

Sparth that's beautiful.
wait a minute you are an artist, paid to be an artist, and you have to hide sketches? can you clarify this for me?

If I had to venture a guess, I would say it's because he had to sign an agreement that states that all ideas an artist has while under the employment of said company are owned by said company through association. Since they can't prove what you have in your noggin' sketches, drawings, notes, etc. are fair game.
Pretty standard O.P. in a professional enviroment...
Which sucks becuase it's either that OR not work. Got us talent by the short hairs.

sparth i love your work. I was wondering when painting in photoshop, do what custom brushes do you use, oe are the default. I tried to paint like that, and it didn't look close.

juice what is reaching the sky paferbaliying? (i made that would up, it is the word that explains the meaning behind the metaphore.)
reason i ask is because he is considered a professional, and is curently flying were i want to, once i get my wings .. and permits and some experience flying. i wouldnt doubt you were a professional .. should i just eat my foot now? .. no ill wait for my cue.
nice sketch!
disclaimer for quote below:
this is no way pointed at you, i love to speak in metaphore - it is just a funny quote from a movie jack nickelson (sp?) was in:
"i think people that talk in metaphores should shampoo my crotch"

Ink: i'm convinced that sometimes, the fact of not showing a thing can be damaging to the drawings. i even think that better stuff appear when you know you're able to share it right away. because of immediate feedbacks i guess.
Wetterschneider: tx mista portraitist :D
snow: tx m8
Imp Head: hehe yea, i think i've spent ages on the little red dot. adding layers after layers because i was not happy with it.
ty.
Smeagol71: well the problem comes from the fact i can't show the best stuff i do. i always sketch for myself, and i show the results, but i don't have enough time to create these free stuff for myself.
awesome explanation man. hehe
sym7: there is a huge difference between production design, and personal design i do for myself, for the fun.
publicly showing production design for a game that has not been released yet, is a complete nono. otherwise lawyer from the company will not appreciate it at all. i will have my butt kicked! :s
one little point: i have been hired by this company, i'm not a freelance anymore. so it does make a real difference on law issues.
mcotie: tx m8. i just have to hide all the major stuff i make, because of "ndas". the only stuff i show is personnal done for no reason at all. that's the way it is....
wacomonkey: tx m8. good to see you posting around.
escortle: 70% photoshop brushes, 30% custom brushes, approx. i should arrive to 100% custom, at 80years old probably. :D thanks.
juice: tx for your kind words. hiding most of my art is very frustrating, but i've got so much stuff to do that i forget about that fact. from the moment i create, i'm happy, and that's good enough. :D
killing.people: thanks m8.

Beautiful! The hands on the second one are magnificent--so simple yet the structure is so nicely explained, not to mention the overall design of the thing is great. I'd love to see a fully rendered version of it. That thing's just really cool.
