Well, I needed someone to back me up. As it turns out I'm a member of 3DBuzz.com and someone over there needed inspiration too. So we're basically here to make comments and try to take eachother to the next level. If anybody outside 3DBuzz visits this thread please note that we didn't set any restrictions on this thread except the fact that we can draw anything. The point is to just draw. It could be anything. Your first thooth, your grandmothers hair or a dream you had last night, which could be quite abstract of course. After a while we hope to have developed our independent styles. :xpld:

I've always been a fan of oddworld. The inhabitants always seemed soo nevrotic and afraid. I think you captured that nervousness brilliantly in your doodle.

Here's my first drawing, sorry a bit late but my net went down earlier. Sorry about the quality, don't got a scanner so used my digital camera.
So what did I learn?
-I use the eraser too much
-I don't know how to draw teeth
-I need to practice basic facial proportions, measure relative size between facial features etc.
-I need to learn how to do shadows (in the details-department)

Aren't we all. Not sure that proportions are all that wrong though. It kinda depends on the dragon you want to picture. They come in all shapes and sizes. From what little I know Asian dragons seem to be more snakelike, while western dragons seem to be more like, well, like the ones in Dungeons and Dragons. I liked your drawing, especially the horns. I always had a problem drawing things that was twisting around itself. Lookin at your drawing I got myself another trick.

I was on a trip to germany not long ago. Lots of statues there of angels. Although the draft I put down today is pure imagination. Tried to achieve an extreme angle(that's the degree stuff, not the flying sort).

I like your last drawing a lot, it gives a heroic expression. Looks like he's about to take off to the sky or something?
About my dragon, I didn't think of neither Asian nor Western when I drew it, so dunno which category mine fits into (don't know about that stuff) :dur: Will look it up so I can get some inspiration.

todays. decided to go with the use of 'shapes' for characters and measuring out bones before i drew. i didn't use shapes much before and after playing about with them, realise how important they are to the whole process of drawing and animation, how simple they make it and how i shhh...

Good work guys, i've been on 3dbuzz sometimes, i think you'll be great around here.
one thing trough, less talk, more drawings, you don't have to have a reason for every drawing, hell that's the fun in it! :teeth:

My two bits for you. Do a sh*t load of reference drawing. Doesn't really matter what it is but the morte you try to reproduce reality the better you fantasy stuff gets as well. I know, I'm still trying to push onwards. Great start and keep it up!!

I owe a drawing from yesterday where I wasn't home so here's two.
I hope people can see the first is a cat, at least it's supposed to be :P
On the other one I really gotta practice on doing noses in correct correlation to the eyes, I redid it many times but still didn't get it right!

Just drawing circles. Ovals. Which are badly drawn circles. Found this to be very difficult. That's what 3D apps are for, right.

The perspective's wrong. I will have to get a good book on the subject.

Good start guys! Best of luck on your journey :D
One advice, I would give. Is to stay focussed. Pick what you want to learn, and keep doing it again and again untill it is awesome. Then go to the next thing. Switching between subjects alot will slow you down in the long run.

I will focus on learning on how to draw humans. Learning about perspective is a must no matter how. So I've been working on that as well. I will post some of it later. And less talk, well, It's easier to keep the spirit up if we brag and encourage eachother, and tell eachother how good we are. And when we all get really good we will lay down some harsh critisism. No point in discouraging beginners from drawing. To give pointers are ok, but critics are a waste on time. Let's just have fun when starting out. I drew the profile of the human head from a book I got. The man running towards us is free imagination though. Quite pleased with too.

I would like to know if there's something you're not so good at drawing. Brilliant piece of weaponary though . You have some excellent observational skills when it comes to clothing.
