This is a thread that I hope will show any imporvement I may make. I'm about to embark on a long journey to become a concept artist, I already began, but this is the year I really get my portfolio together for applying to college, so I decided to start this thread to really get my act together. Constructive crits are ALWAYS welcome. I can't do Bridgemen studies for another week or so (book hog in my house ;)

There may be some screw ups this time, I may have to delete and repost if there are. Sorry, I've never attempted mass picture posting and something may have slipped during the tedious loading, renaming etc. Also scan quality may be slightly lower than I hoped, I will learn to operate it better with time.

This is an exercise I just started last night. I get some friends on Battle.net to play a game and I observe and sketch random icons/battle scenes during it. Quite fun.

Fox from reference forum, I thought it was pretty neat animal to sketch and people who have seen him agree what a nice little creature he is to practise sketches on.

Got back from work in the power outage, Pirates of the Carribean was cut 15min short due to it, I liked the movie a good deal and thought I'd relax by drawing some pirates.

Some skull sketches I did after typing in "skull" in google image search, reference for dsg "Dead End" No final sketch was done though.

Tried some hulk/werewolf combination, but realized werewolfs are loved for brute strength and agility combined as opposed to pure brute strength, so I stopped fairly early.

Started as an anatomy sketch from online sources, but when my second body got screwed up I decided to make it a werewolf transforming haha. Saw a trailer for "The Underworld" the other day and werewolves are so cool.

man, that's a lot of stuff, good first post. My only input is: draw more from reference (the ones from hogarth look good...practice more). My (awesome) drawing teacher always says that you don't get better by drawing from your head, only by drawing from life (or picture reference, but less so). and for a portfolio stuff from life is pretty much all they want to see. so...look in the mirror and go out side and draw some buildings or plants or something. Keep doing concept work because it helps your imagination, but do lots of both. Just my advice...

Oh and here is the update. Had some fun last week before school and some sketches for art class and some studies done. Server messed up the very night I scanned all of this in, so I couldn't post it, now the server is a bit buggy, I'll try to fix the links if I can.

This is the final version for a collaberation project done at school with 3 other ppls, my brother included. This particular piece of the project is sort of a joke, mainly because I'd been obsessing about how to fix the anatomy to add 2 extra arms.

These are 2 studies done for it. One attaching the arms to the abs as a second set of pseudo pecs, the other both sets attached to the same pecs. I realized the problem of a second set of shoulderblades, so on the final piece his torso is wide the entire way down.

Hello this is the latest updates from my first weeks of school--well not all of them. Some were too weird ort fast to be worth scanning. Anyways this is what my mind's been up to recently.

These are compisitional sketches and research sketches that were going to be for a ww2 painting, but then I had a change of inspiration and decided on a different painting altogether. Dirty, but they convey what I would want before decing exactly what to paint.
