Hello all...I'm one of them lurkers that has decided to come out of the shadows...

The name is Bryan, from Queens, New York...I'm 20 years and currently working as a Customer Service Rep for the Department of Education..

I, like just about everyone else here, am an artist(or struggling to be one)..i have been drawing from the time i was able to hold a pencil till now...i attended the High School of Art and Design(where my favorite artist went to high school[Joe Madureira]) and then attended 1 year at the Joe Kubert School for Cartooning and Graphic Art( a wonderfull experience..i was taught by Adam Kubert[penciller of Ultimate X-Men], Sergio Cariello[former penciller of Azrael, now working on Crux for Crossgen], amongst many others)

My other interests include: Playing sports basketball, handball, baseball and football, Music: mainly Heavy Metal like Blind Guardian, Iced Earth Iron Maiden and so on..i also am a terrible singer but i do so nonetheless in the comfort of my home(and i swear i sound good lol)

This forum has been really rejuvenating to me, to see so many talented people all in one place, all looking out for one anther and providing one anther with artisitc advice is truly awe inspiring...so here i thank everyone for making this forum one of my favorite places on the web to visit on a daily basis..

Now on to my question....Is there a NYC sketchgroup in existence and if so where and how often do you meet?

Sorry for the long winded post and thanks for reading, looking forward to posting some of my own art...

Thakns for the welcome, I will glady post something, i actually want to start working on a gallery exihibition..but I still lack some control of my drawing hand..

My right index fingered had a car door closed on it, and fractured it(very minor, but hurts none the less)..a metal piece went through the top layer to the bone..chipped the bone...
i'm gonna get a pic scanned in, and have it hosted at gfxartist.com(i don't know if they allow remote linking) and i will post as soon as Wednesday..

Also a lil side not is I design tattoos for friends, and i actually sport one of my own on my arm...I'll post that as well..

:chug: for the welcome..

Fomr what i've seen there is a couple of NYC peeps here, are there any sketch groups that take place in the city or go to the Soceity of Illustrators gallery for their life drawing sessions?

The SofI has weekly sketch sessions, but I recommend a place on Spring Street between LaFayette and Crosby. It's a place with a sign outside that says "DRAW!" and they have three sessions of figure drawing on a daily basis. I used to work across the street from it so it was quite convenient.

One would think that there would be drawing groups in Williamsburg, what with all the artists, but in fact most of the artists here in Williamsburg are only artists in theory, but not in practice! Ha!

Welcome to the small but proud clatch of NYC concept artists!

Ha...thanks bro...i'm gonna check that out....

i thought since NYC is one of the art centers of the world they'd be more of us around here...

If peeps wanna start a sketch group or something, let me know, i'd be down..do some quick drawings at Union Square(always packed 24 hours a day)..or something
