Yes Chaos... this time I´m in from now.... in minutes i´ll update this post and put some sketch about... congrats for this topic!
Well... yes ... i feel more confortable now.
This is an early stage draw... but have the essence... i think.
Description (may change with the progress of the work)
The midnight princess have an spell, the time and the space seems like nothing to her life, in the cocoon of time, she wait in the middle of the time the reason to break the chains that make she stay there forever, just because he doesn´t have any reason to live, no love or family... just life, empt life.
The heroes try to give she the reason, and a lot of contenders make the way trought the portals, when someone cross one, other open, and two are closed.
The evil have his part in this story, taking the play over the heroes and leaving no more than a cold death.
The objetive... is to leave one reason tolive in the middle chamber of Esmeralda, the labyrinth of the cold princess.

For idea building I looked up the definition of labyrinth and got some cool results.
1. an intricate combination of paths or passages in which it is difficult to find one's way or to reach the exit.
2. a maze of paths bordered by high hedges, as in a park or garden, for the amusement of those who search for a way out.
3. a complicated or tortuous arrangement, as of streets or buildings.
4. any confusingly intricate state of things or events; a bewildering complex.
5. (initial capital letter) Classical Mythology. a vast maze built in Crete by Daedalus, at the command of King Minos, to house the Minotaur.
a. the internal ear, consisting of a bony portion (bony labyrinth) and a membranous portion (membranous labyrinth).
b. the aggregate of air chambers in the ethmoid bone, between the eye and the upper part of the nose.
7. a mazelike pattern inlaid in the pavement of a church.
8. a loudspeaker enclosure with air chambers at the rear for absorbing sound waves radiating in one direction so as to prevent their interference with waves radiated in another direction.
Kinda opens up new directions to go with this.

sevral thousand years into the future humanity built a Labryinth spanning 1,000 square miles. The Labryinth was built to contain the, ever growing number of prison convicts across the globe. murderers, psychopathes and crime overlords were sent here when caught. The Labryinth full of traps and weapons had one way out to freedom......the Center of the Labryinth.
but to get there, however, the convict would have to survive the traps, and one another.....
well this is my entry for this week's E.O.W well I hope you all like what Ive done with this theme and I'll be back next week ^^ I added some buildings to the labryinth too, but I didnt add to many as its supposed to be a labryinth not a housing estate XD

Concept: The Tale-Weavers tell us stories of a time before the Labyrinth Engine was built, of lands lush and green, of endless blue skies. Occasionally a Seeker-Gatherer will find a relic from those times while searching for food in the endless corridors. And on lonely nights, huddled in the lamp light, the Far-Walkers will whisper rumors of their missing compatriots, who, they claim, walked far from the known halls and into the fabled lush greens and vast skies of the "Beyond-The-Maze".
Just a very quick work in progress. I hope I get the chance to finish this one.

I'm also interested in this one, I was wondering if this would be allowed... The concept is "The Labyrinth of Flesh, Thought, and Spirit" (Still in the extreme rough)...
1st crappy update...
trying to refine the environment a bit more... (didn't get to spend enough time on it tonight...) This one I'm going to try to use a warm gray scale with a cool one...
I understand what chaosrocks is trying to say about the character... I wanted to use him for a sence of scale... although I need to vary the 'flesh' labyrinth to add more depth to it or change it arround a bit... starting to feel a bit to unusual to me.... any thoughts?
Same crappy drawing +2hrs
October 4th, 2007, 10:25 AM
sure just make sure that thte focus is on the environment, not on the character, otr the event
October 4th, 2007, 01:50 PM
I'm attempting this one this time around.
Hope to get it finished in time! :)
October 4th, 2007, 09:04 PM

A few things from the peanut gallery... Please take with necessary salt...
Viran - Awesome, smooth and well though out... The only thing I think would add to it is some more maze toward the horizon...
Malakai - Awesome to see you wandering around here! This looks like it's got potential... A spherical maze-world with a building as it's center... Be careful workin the details in early... Keep it general then slowly going with more detail...
Archangel - Cool concept so far... I'd like to see what you've gotten done so far to give you a better crit... but based on this one, the composition seems to be strong so far...
Sorry too tired now... need sleep... finish... morow........zzzz.....zzz....zz.

October 7th, 2007, 11:06 PM
hello, here is my entry.
The story: in a not very very distant future, Neopolis the most rich city in the face of earth have a very major problem with the immigration. They are too many and too mixed so the mayor of the city have found an unusual method to reduce to the half the number of immigrants.Put them to compete!Every group of 10000 must choose a team of their best man and wemen. There are always 2 teams wich compete in the same time ,the one who wins get the citizenship rights to the people whom they represent. The rules are very simple the both team start in the same time ,every team has his own labirynth. The labirynth has the capacity to change itself so the team who manage to find the way out and touch the "Neopolis citizenship" three times win the game. The competition is hold on the "Acceptus Extraneus" stadion. :dead:
I hope You will like it

My final crack at this one... I won't have any more time to add to it until beyond the deadline. Awesome work from DAN and Gaius... Definitely not that high o' quality from me but I still try with what I got.
-The Labyrinth of Flesh, Thought, and Self-
This is the visualized representation of the visions from a monk's meditations. He seen a great field of paths, each flowing and ripping into each other. In the center of the quagmire of living stone was three towers, the first revealed a complicated maze full of riddles and questions, twists and turns. After passing though, he found the next tower was but a single room. Even though many others had entered with him, he found himself alone. The daunting challenge of understanding himself eluded his chances to see the third tower. He spoke of it almost like he was within grasp of true enlightenment.

edujante, I'm beginning to enjoy the continuing adventures of Ricky. Very nice panoramic style. I love the jumble of architecture. Thanks for the comments as well!
Gaius, nice context and great composition... especially like the crows...
Crazy..., you've managed to dig out a unique take on the subject, and an imaginative backstory to boot.
Lots of WIPs that need finishing...
October 9th, 2007, 10:18 PM
If you were to extend the deadline, when would the new deadline be? I got mine about halfway done, and then my computer started having some issues.

October 11th, 2007, 02:35 AM
This is really my first time sitting down and trying to do an environment. I want to gain more experience with them. I also want to learn some painting techniques so that I can get faster. With that preface, I present:
EOW#67 Center of the Labyrinth FINAL
The darkened forest was a blight upon the land, twisted beyond recognition, only the darkest of creatures dwelling in it. Generations had watched it spread through healthy lands, claiming them for some dark need. Priests and adventures alike ventured into the depths, only a scarce few returning. Their babbling madness told of a labyrinth at the center, its walls like spongy flesh, its shape a cavorting madhouse of otherworldly geometries. Sinister was this labyrinth, and most sinister of all was the solid obsidian gate looming in the center.
Adventurers still quested through the forest, and still died for their folly. Whispers soon moved amongst the dark mages, tales of power awaiting those strong enough to unlock the door. Wizened old arcanists and young bright novices made the trek, and most joined the demented denizens of the forest. Only one stunning prodigy had the strength of will to maintain his sanity and find the obsidian gate in the center.
But was he strong enough to face what lay on the other side? The world of chaos that had spawned the labyrinth in the first place was all too eager to claim another delicious soul.

Gaius, THAT IS ABSLOUTELY THE MOST BEAUTIFUL THING I HAVE SEEN IN MONTHS! The mood, the archaic (did I spell it right) feel to it, the contrast (orange-blue, my favourite!:X)... the gamma... the idea... SUPPERB! <<Takes off hat and bows>>
October 12th, 2007, 06:32 PM
DAN........How dare you be only a level one...
Your work is RIDICULOUS!!!!! Love it, keep it up :)
Gaius I personally like yours the most,
though it does seem to be slightly influenced by
"Altair of Assassins Creed(view below)"....but I'm probably wrong.
Looks great though.
NOT A EOW PIC ABOVE!!!!!!!! READ BEFORE CRITISIZING!!!!
October 12th, 2007, 07:07 PM

Final EOW- Center of the Labyrinth- A.J. Casperite
On this fiery world you must race as quickly as you can through the labyrinth of walkways and shafts up to the top of the ancient tower to the portal that will carry you to the next world and an uncertain fate.
My attempt at this EOW.
October 13th, 2007, 02:18 AM
A_J_Casperite, just in time. Glad you and your fantastic style made it in this round! I dug your work on the Swamp, nice to see it continuing here. Cheers!
Chaos, I'm just chomping at the bit is all...
