canves size help!!

hi i know these are probably really stupid things to ask but i've been looking at some posts of artists around here and they show a really great painting
but then show another image that's zoomed in and says 100% what does this mean??? when i make a new canves in photoshop it's at 100% and if i zoom in
or out it gets really choppy i'm really sorry these are so stupid!!

When someone posts something on the forum, they have usually shrunk down the image and changed it to 72 dpi for web viewing. The original painting may have been done larger at maybe 300 dpi.
The small zoomed in section just lets you see some of the detail at the original size.

Check what dpi you are using when you make a new canvas in photoshop. Whether you are using a low or high dpi makes a difference.
