Rules:
Any medium
No rules
Assignment:
Creativity is paramount- everyone knows a cyborg is a human and a machine mixed so it should be rather straight forward. However, this challenge is to come up with a unique twist on the cyborg theme. Not just a regular dude or chick with a metal arm, but anything not done before- for example, I've never seen a cyborg anteater, or a cyborg caveman. You get the idea, come up with something new.
Prize:I will send the winner a trophy if they want it. (woohoo)
Deadline to Enter: Halloween
Deadline for finished art:Thanksgiving

This is off to a good start!
Jake - In answer to your voting question:
I made a deadline for entry for halloween so that I could start recruiting judges after that. I will list them when I've got at least three and I'm going to try and recruit some of the artists from CA that all have advanced abilities in different styles of work.
Can't wait to see how this turns out, thanks to all who have entered and Good Luck!

Okay everyone,
olot of questions, alot of entries, this will be great if noone wusses out.
Here are the answers to all the questions I've gotten - deadline is November 22nd. (Sorry I forgot to account for global entries, not everyone knows when thanksgiving is)
If you are just now coming to this post and you want to join, its okay, you can, as log as you can have your work done by Nov. 22nd.
When you get your piece done, even if it is already done and you want to enter it, just post it right in here. You can post it any time before Nov. 22nd, but the judging will not take place until the 22nd.
When the 22nd rolls around, the judges will have a look at all the art in here and give a verdict, and then if the winner so desires the trophy, I will send it to them through the mail/ups/fedex or whatever. If your art isnt in here, it will not get judged.
So good luck everybody!

This my entry for Cyborg Challenge at Conceptart.org and also as a birthday's present for my friend (Gatot) on this Nov 15th 2007. Wish you all the best.
This is story of a cyborg that guard area of Mist Valley, called as Killer Angel. 5 years ago, she was an elite soldier in her country, lost her hands and amnesia when she involved a war between human race and robots. A briliant professor take her to be his cyborg experiment and then it's happened. She is a very special cyborg with complete weapon. On her right eye, laser beam and night vision. On her left hand, a three mini granade launchers and sword. On her right hand, an axe-gun. And a couple of wings that make her can fly anywhere.

not bad...not bad at all .....dnt mind me saying ....but the angel looks a bit like its pasted upon the background.....maybe you could detail the wings such that the little white spots look like holes instead and show a bit of the background !?!?!?!?!

I have to admit that I won`t be finished by tomorrow eith my pic. Due to several unexpected "events" I wasn`t able to work on it as often as I wanted.
I feel awfull about this because of the fact it is the first challange I joined.
So ..sory for that.
But I intend to finish it at a later date. because I want to bring it to an end and wish to read commands and critiques.

Hi guys! Sorry I’m late. I’m your judge (or maybe one of your judges?) I guess a rating system would help. . .
Creativity – Is this cyborg an interesting new twist on the idea of a cyborg? 1 – 10 (ten being best)
Execution – How well was the image constructed? This includes handling of the media, color, composition, and all of those other yummy technical tidbits. 1 – 10 again.
Whoever gets the highest total wins!
***********
Llothcat – rofl! What is that, a guinea pig? Now I really want to know what a cyborg guinea pig would be useful for. In its execution, you got the composition and colors and shadow and reflection pretty well nailed. The handling of the brushes overall, though, is very soft and unfinished-looking. Those metal bits are dying to be sharpened up, as are the non-furry anatomical parts. If you were to take it to the next step, the thing to visit would be edges.
Creativity – 9
Execution – 4
Total – 13
WhiteGuardian – This is a more traditional used-to-be-human, now-due-to-violence-and-experimentation-it’s-a-weapon-cyborg-babe. The wings and tail are the most original touch. (I’m wondering how they propel her – are there jets hidden on the back somewhere?) The metal bra is a hoot. O don’t know what those spiked tentacle things are, but they are a nice addition. I worry that the shoulder spikes on her left arm would poke out her eye! In the execution department, I like that you took the time to give her a complete environment. I like how you’ve handled the rendering of her fleshy bits, particularly how they are the most saturated part of the image. There are some anatomy issues, mostly in her legs, in which it looks like she is just wearing fancy cyborg pants, but that the legs underneath are stiff and not well understood. The glowing bits on her ankles are a nice touch – I would have liked to see more of that. Compositionally, she is smack in the center, and the landscape could have been used to direct the eye around the image in a meaningful way, but hasn’t been.
Creativity – 5
Execution – 7
Total – 12
Brianhammer – ROFL! Poor kitty. Does it shoot lazerbeams from its eyes, and live next to a moat full of hot magma? I do like how you have given the tiger mechanical parts that look like today’s technology. The edges between the metal and fur seem unfinished – which is on top? How do they stay together? Compositionally, the image holds together well. Color-wise, I think the wires are overwhelmingly blue, but otherwise the flashes of saturated color are a nice touch. I do want to see the mechanical bits sharpened up more. Round bits in particular need to be meticulously perfect on machinery. Is this painted in gouache? If so, impressive! Did you base this on a photo of a tiger in exactly that pose? If so *shakes finger*.
Creativity – 9
Execution – 8
Total – 17
Xabian – Sorry dude, there’s just not much here for me to judge. I can’t tell what sort of creature this started its life as, and I can’t tell where the creature ends and the machine bits end. The phrase “brain in a sack” did give me a chuckle. I guess the “sack” is that jar containing green liquid in his chest? The breathing apparatus is a neat idea. It looks like you are still struggling too much with the medium and with academic art basics to have much success with complex subjects from imagination. But kudos for giving this a try!
Creativity – 4
Execution – 2
Total – 6
***********
My picks for the winner:
Second place: WhiteGuardian
First place: Brianhammer
Thanks for participating!
