Hard black around the scale mail edges should pop it right out. Other then that it looks beautiful.

i love skaven!!! i never played warhammer, but i used to page through the miniatures catalogs everyday in junior high. i loved the artwork and character design. if i had my images hosted somewhere i would post some of the warhammer inspired drawings i've done.

woo, yeah, skaven are neat, will you get the chance to make any of the plague monks? I mostly familiar with these guys from Gameworkshop's Advanced Heroquest boardgame, not Warhammer.

Looks like a faithful image of the guys. the editors should be happy with that. The main skaven is really nice, good colors that keep the focus on him, but I do agree with the eariler comment about the chain mail. The image as a whole is a little flat, but it is very readable and should work well on a card-sized image.

If you've got the background on a separate layer from the rats, one suggestion: the wall should either have more stones and less mortar or be made a touch darker than the sky and the ground. As you have it, the wide spaces between the rocks might break up the form of the wall too much. It reads well as it is here, but you can't be certain of how the colors might change in the printed form.

If they hired you to do other cards, I'd like to see them, too!

Thanks everyone. Those are some good ideas. I painted on it some more and my wife put some textures on top of it in photoshop.http://home.earthlink.net/~monsterbox/previews/skaven2.jpg

bwkeough- I hope I get to do some plague monks. I also want to paint some skaven machine builders. It looks like my next job is going to be with futuristic stuff though.

dresden- GW is not easy to get work with. But they do employ a lot of artists. I would check out the submission guidelines on the Sabertooth and the Black Library websites. You have an advantage if you know the details about their universe.

3bleadpencil- I like the design in the old disney nhym movie. I need to watch that again sometime.
