Decided to go ahead and start a self portrait thread. Looking forward to watching things develop and any advice that may be made.

i share the same opinion than guilefine.

try making your selfportraits in front of a mirror. i think its better to draw from reality rather than photographs

and the most important thing, keep drawing :D

For Self Portrait #2 I went ahead and used a mirror this time. Have not been able to get a good anatomy book yet. Thank you for your comments Arbu and Guilefine

try doing it without your glasses it took me along time to realize why squinting is a good idea. depending on what its like with your glasses off, blurring your vision is very important to break down the masses of light and dark i know you want to make a nice line drawing so make a nice line drawing of the big shapes that make up your face. keep at it

Judging by your portraits you would make a brilliant Caricature cartoon character. Your bone structure and all round facial features are well suited I feel. Maybe you should concenstrate on 2D style cartoon illustration and see what happens, just a thought. Keep it up, thats what I keep telling myself.
