Hi, my name is Jonas Heirwegh.

My ultimate goal is to work in the film/game industry as a concept artist. My interest is going more towards environments, vehicles and props. Also matte painting is something I'll definitely going to look into.
But I'm also going crazy from artists like James Jean, Ashley Wood, Chris Appelhans, Wes, etc.. So characters, creatures too.
Aah, I'm interested in everything really..
I'm really serious with my art and I gave up alot of things in my freetime including my school and other hobby's. This is what I want in life, I know its a long shot and people in my surroundings are thinking this dude is going crazy, but it turned my world around about a year ago and I'm going for it. Some of you guys propably know this feeling all to well.

I started a little over one year ago with drawing, I quit school 6 months ago so I can be busy with art almost full time. So I have alot of shortcomings.
I'm planning on moving to Los Angeles in a few months and attend Pasadena City College together with various ateliers. Not 100% sure because of the paper work.

My fav pieces.

Now this is really hard. I'm just gonna pick 3 things, concept art related.
I'm not really picking my favourite pieces because honestly I can't choose. But these artists are on top of my list.
I would also like to add that Syd Mead would be in my top three without a doubt but I dont have anything high res in my folder.

1. Ryan Church. I like the way he can capture movement in a 2d image, it could be just one frame in a scene. His attention to detail is amazing and he dont tend to overdetail the whole scene.
I also like the overall composition and the way he uses composition to guide you into his fantasy worlds.
Offcourse the use of color is something he is famous for as this piece shows.
Although I would prefer a slightly more realistic colorscheme for my own work.

2. Wesley Burt. I just took one of his character sketches. What I like so much about this piece is that the character shows so much personality. The expression on his face and the pose is something I'm striving for to be able to do myself one day.
You could imagine a whole story behind this character by just looking at this sketch. Again, I love the way he doesnt render the whole thing and keeps the focal point on the face. It really doesnt need every single detail, you can imagine it.

3. Craig Mullins. He has cooler looking pieces than this one but what really strikes me are the colors and the light. His knowledge of both is beyond fantastic. The suggested details on those horses and actually the whole piece with a few brush strokes are great. You can really tell he has a traditional background and I think its important to master the traditional stuff before going digital all the way.

sorry for the lack of updates steve. I'm in the middle of my admission process for pasadena city college and its a pain to figure out everything for an international student. I'll try to pick up in the next few weeks.
