There are probably two things that I really want to get from art. Firstly, the joy of being able to draw whatever you have in your minds eye, any dream, situation or random thought. And have it come out the same as the way you imagined it. Too me, that kind of freedom means more than anything else when it comes to art.
Secondly, I would like to pay the bills with a art career. People say you cant enjoy your job, but even if this was true (I don't feel it is), there are varying levels and this would be something I rate the best.

When it comes to drawing, nothing beats graphite imo. It just feels more natural than plastic on plastic. I'll be trying oils soon so I cant say how I'll find them.

Shortcomings wise, I am lazy. I know it, so at least theres no denial.
Lately though, I have been more productive and less reluctant to work. And now with some structured class, I see myself actually working a lot. Another one being technical knowledge, which I'm hoping to get a idea of with this course. Self taught is the painful approach.

Art wise I’m kind of uncultured, so do expect all art.
So here they are, my likes:
Wes Burt – I feel the same with pretty much all his work. There's a difference between drawing a face that looks nice, and one that looks like it has life and depth. Pencil being the medium I love, it’s really inspiring to see someone do things like these with it.

Bouguereau : Nymphes et Satyre – Bouguereau is probably one of my favorite older artists. Apart from just liking the style and the expression he put into his art, I really appreciate the dedication that it must take to spend days on end doing a single piece (this goes for most old masters I suppose).

Well, A third pic is a little harder than I expected. Too many options to choose from and not sure which one I really want to put up, so i'll go for some philosophy. Basically the way I look at it, is if I die tomorrow with a smile on my face and knowing that I’ve never passed up a opportunity to do something I wanted to because of ideals or fear and uncertainty, then it’s been a life well lived.

Ok, on the dislikes:
I’m not sure if this is ok, but instead of having a specific dislike for a single artist, I have a dislike for a style.
Conceptual Art – this style was never really anything to me and it’s been so abused over the last few years it’s sad. People could be painting outdoors and have a pigeon shit on the paper and that could be passed off as it.

Cubism – Never found why people find this so amazing, and if I did, I’d still dislike it. Not really much else to say here, just don’t like it.

Not really liking it but hey, it'l do. Just over a hour on A3 paper which wasn't really helping for the speed aspect. Couldn't scan it so got a photo. The hair/ear where mashed together at the last minute so I wouldn't be later for school than I was already...

when you photograph things check the histogram in your camera if it has the option. generally anything with a lot of white (like your drawing) your camera will want to turn it to grey. in fact a camera pretty much wants to turn everything to grey. this means you have to overexpose your pic by typically 1.5 to 2 stops. this way your white paper will actually look white.
