Hi, I had a previous sketchbook. But it never got updated and I didn't visit the site as often back then. But this site is invaluable to me in my current situation. Basically I have a year to work super hard on my illustrations and concept work. I am applying for year 2 of an Illustration degree having transfered from a different degree. I have been drawing all my life, I did art and design at sixth form college and did well... But it's only now that I have to take it to the next level. I have realised concept art is what I want to do, and it has taken a lot to realise that, believe me! Now I know what I want to do and where I have to be. As I said, I have a year to really advance, so I am taking this as an opportunity. I am prepared to work hard. My life drawing classes start next week and last for ten weeks. I am about to upload some of my sketchbook so we can see how I have improved since today and then again in ten weeks! I have recently bought a Wacom and have some digial stuff that I will upload too. I have been going through a rough period in life at the moment so this sketchbook marks new beginnings.

A quick sketch of a half face. Used mainly a custom brush but then smoothed out with a soft brush

Not quite finished. The skull is a bit random but I thought it would look abstract.

Based on the idea that the character can bring characters to life thru books

Welcome to CA! (again)

Beautiful digitals!
The skull is a nice touch but it looks almost too unreal with that large scale. Anyhow I really like the lighting in that one.
Looking forward for more!

Nice work! :teeth:

I really like the eye on that half-face; I wonder if her face isn't too narrow, though...

And yes, sweet lighting on skull-girl :) You might consider lengthening her upper arms a bit - and does that skull have a jawbone to speak of?

Sweet little Painter pic; quite Monet-esque :^^:

Can't wait to see more from you! :teeth:

All of them are looking great, but my fav is the kid with a book. One crit to share: I think that the highlights on a woman with skull are too bright against that pitch black background. Try to drop down the brightness slightly and lighten the bg. Otherwise that particular piece is looking awesome.

Bit of a change or circumstance now! Just heard from my uni and I am able to start a Bachelor of Arts course for this year! Yippeee. Am pretty happy. Then I can pursue a masters in Illustration I think.

Took a few hours, not brilliant. The grass sucks. Not sure how to improve it from now.
