so lately... or rather the last 3 months, since about the time I made the switch from sarasota to socal I've been going to a few local open mic's to draw...

Live music open mics are always interesting... all singers/comedians waiting to be discovered... sometimes they're incredible and sometimes they completely suck... regardless, they hold relatively the same pose for say 3-4 minutes. Great for facial expression and quick gesture work...

and the audience is generally pretty still as well if you get tired of drawing who's on stage...

tuesdays The best open mic I've found so far is at the accoustic playhouse (tempest) at 7323 santa monica blvd..
it starts at 8 and costs 2 bucks cover

and wednesdays at highland grounds on highland near melrose.. fifty or so performers usually show up to this one...
it starts at 730 or so and costs 3 bucks

both places are rather dark but have lights and or candles that you can sit around... so If anyone else thinks this sounds pretty cool... join me, I'm there every week (well of course if something very important comes up I don't generally go, but you get the idea)

later all
pat

That is a hell of an idea. A constant supply of models for only a few bucks... sounds like a blast. You must have gone through a few sketch books in the last 3 months eh?

Thanks for the idea.. going to have to check for something like that around here. I've been to the local comedy club but I don't think I could sit through the acts again. ;)
