Hello all! I'm trying to find a background artist for a computer adventure game that's been a few years in the making now. I'm fairly good at vector art myself, but am sorely lacking in things like perspective and free time, :) and am unsatisfied with my own work. The whole game has a cartoony feel to it, and you can see some examples of the backgrounds I already worked on here:

I finally decided it would be a shame if this never saw the light of day due to my ineptitude, so I'm hoping to find someone who would be willing to accept a per-background commission of $10 each, paid out once a month depending on how many bg's you finished that month. I know it's not much, but at 90 or so rooms in the end you'll be making near or over $1000 total for this project. There's no set time limit for finishing this, although I'd hope it would be done in a year and a half at most. If you're talented enough to do 90 of them in three months, no problem, I'll pony up your pay and probably give you a nice bonus for doing quality work that fast. :) However, please be *SURE* before we start that you will be able to go all the way with this, even if it means giving up tons of otherwise free time for the next year. I can't switch artists in the middle, and I can't afford to start over again if you quit partway through, so please take a realistic look at your available time and energy. :)
I'd like someone who's at least familiar with adventure games (Sierra, Lucasarts, especially Sam & Max or Day of the Tentacle) and the way backgrounds might need to be laid out to accomodate puzzles and so forth. And while you don't need to match my vectored art style (hand drawn, scanned and colored bg's would work too, for instance), my characters would just need to mesh well with whatever you come up with. I'm also hoping for stuff that looks more professionally done than my own (obviously, it's why I'm here!) :). For consistency's sake, I'll be scrapping my originals and will want every background done from scratch, based on detailed descriptions and rough sketches I send you.
And of course, your name will go in the credits. :) This will be a labor of love game, meaning I won't be selling it, just giving it away for free, so there won't be royalties. But I hope that impresses on you how much I want to finish it, investing $1000 of my own money towards it. So! Please e-mail me with any questions or art samples, a_strange_visitor@yahoo.com, I look forward to hearing from you! Thanks!
