Art Battle Royal!

OK this really isn't a "contest" it's for fun. I'm creating this because i didn't see a thread like this created and i wanted one.


About

Battle royal is a thread where each person will have a character. You will start off by posting a sketch of your character. You will only have to do this once so everyone can see who your character is. Afterwards you may attack another character.YOU MUST DRAW YOURSELF ATTACKING THEM. DO NOT JUST SAY "I ATTACK YOU". Other players are allowed to interrupt players fights by attacking the players fighting and just pretty much starting one big free for all. The battle royal thread is a huge free-for-all where anyone attacks anyone(you could also gang up on other players or form an alliance with another player) You can have any kind of powers/weapons you want, whether it be telekinesis or a pistol. And you don't have to die if you don't want to. Simply make your character able to regenerate/ reanimate. If you want to leave the thread just kill off your character.Like I said, this thread is FOR FUN.

DO NOT SPEND ALL DAY MAKING YOURS A COMPLETE WORK OF ART(although your entry image of your character can be as good as you want it to be). As long as we can see whats happening and who is who, then its ok.

Participants shouldn't hesitate to cause severe damage to other characters, although try not to completely mutilate everybody from the very beginning ALL the time, we want some good battles - agreed? The characters "controller" can decide for themselves if they want to regenerate that character or kill the character off in which they can come back with a new one. If the character regenerates and/or comes back to life they should show (draw) how.

Hopefully we can get SOME kind of storyline to develop but it should happen organically, this means respecting other peoples ideas and trying to compliment each others creativity- don't get ur undies in a wad if someone draws something different from the way you envisioned it., if we do this right this thread will kind of become an collaborative online comic book.
private messages can be sent to members to suggest ideas, coordinate attacks, or collab on pictures.

You should not be drawing a series of drawings showing the other character defending/counter attack/running(ect.) - you shouldn't dictate what other characters responses will be, but I would say you can draw multiple drawings to illustrate your attack, for example:
1 pic: grab lift off ground
2 pic: Throw across room

Also, how do we know who ultimately wins the battle? Does someone vote on the battle scenes or something?

Well I'm not quite sure how this works either but I would say u should introduce your character first (character drawing) then draw a separate attack scene, but I would just put them in the same post. My character was one I already had lying around, future drawings will be much more simple (crappy).

Skills: Achieved Masters Degrees in Chemistry, Physics, and was pursuing a Dual Doctorate in Chemistry and Chemical Engineering when he became The Chemist and was forced to drop out of school. He is also well versed in the techniques of Greco-Roman Wrestling, a sport in which he served as an Olympic alternate at the age of 22.

History/Reason:

Joshua grew up in Ingles, Oklahoma birthplace of the famous outlaw James Brothers. The town was truly a farming community and had less than 500 people. Joshua's freakish intellect quickly distinguished him from the other farm kids and his family scraped by to send him at age five to a special Math and Science High School in Tulsa. At age Seven Joshua had graduated as the valedictorian of the High School, and received scholarship offers from the most prestigious schools in the world.

Afraid of change Joshua stayed close to home and attended Oklahoma State University where he gained his first Bachelors Degree at age ten. With his timid personality, superior intellect, and age difference Joshua felt isolated at school. Unfortunately back home in Ingles the opportunities started and stopped with farm work. Disinterested with his options, Joshua dove deep into his studies. His theories became increasingly radical as he matured, and his professors became obsessed with using him as a tool to gain their own fame and fortune.

Pushed by his teachers into experimenting on projects that did not interest him Joshua found an outlet for expressing his frustration as a Collegiate Wrestler. His small stature (5'6" tall, 170lbs.) coupled with the strength developed working early mornings, evenings, and summers on the farm, propelled him to All-American status as a wrestler.

In his final year of schooling Joshua was working on an experiment that could only be classified as Alchemy. Joshua created a containment chamber that would serve as a living Periodic Table of Elements. In the vacuum of Joshua's containment chamber scientists, politicians, and media were astonished as this small town farm boy transformed a mass of pure carbon into a puddle of mercury, and then transformed it again into pure Boron gas. They witnessed Atomic Fission and greed washed over them like a wave.

Fame and fortune seemed inevitable for Joshua, but now confronted by the possibility of an alternate fuel source being developed by harnessing the power of Fission, he had become Public Enemy number one to the Old time Oil Families of Oklahoma. One lonely Tuesday morning in the lab as Joshua tweaked his machine his future was decided for him. A D-average Frat student, son of an Oil Barron, sealed the containment chamber with Joshua inside. As the air rushed from the chamber creating its vacuum the student began smashing the control panel of Joshua's machine. Instantly transformed Joshua's body mass was cycled through nearly all of the types of elements in a matter of seconds. The student finally destroyed the machine causing a massive electrical current to course through Joshua's remains crumpled upon the floor of his chamber.

Joshua awoke, but he was not the same. While he still kept generally the same shape, and still possessed his same intellect, his body had been gifted with the ability of his containment chamber. He can now transform his own body into pure elements of any state (solid, liquid, or gas); and has begun to learn how to split portions of his body into multiple elements.

Losing the desire to continue on for the benefit of the people who were using him, Joshua became "The Chemist" and set out to defend the little guys of the world.

History: Exiled from the north pole, once he set fire to Santa`s Workshop which destroyed the most of presents ,killed or injured the other elves and eventually ruined the Christmas . He remains cursed ever since , he lost his joyfulness, merryness and ability to stay cute. He wanders the world with his faithful pal, Bob the Balloon!
Reason: He joins the challenge to have bloody good time. He eventually realized killing is what he enjoys more than packing gifts.

Race: Originaly human - now a hideous man-beast stalking in the shadows

Occupation: Trying to become more powerfull

Skills: Extremely fast and agille, can jump tens of meters, can easily sneak up on a prey. Claws that can fast grow to a meters lenght just by will, the same goes with the teeths. Claws and teeths can rip through everything. He can expand his mouth as much as he almost can swallow you whole. Black magician, can summon his madness and darkest dreams into the real world.

Personality: Paranoia and schizofrenia rules his mind, trusts noone except the voices in his head. Not such a nice person - he literaly wants to eat your brain.

History: A former Lord in the ancient kingdom of Valakia. He sought the throne of the kingdom but he needed an army to overthrow the current king.
Since he didn't have a army and wasn't rich enough for one. He sought help in a forbidden book of the blackest magic. Since he wasn't a true sorcerer the book tricked him and the spell for uninmagiable power and immortality turned him into a grotesque creature that could live for an eternity. But he needed the flesh of human beings to be able to sustain his life - if he didn't eat human flesh he would slowly fall apart. The spell took away his intestanse and created a large hole in his stomach area so he would always be hungry. With the cursed spell came the knowledge of the darkest magic - but this was too much for a human mind.
Lord Malerius slayed and ate all who lived and worked in his own castle - even his wife and childhood-love.
The years passed and he slowly got more and more paranoid and he started to hear voices in his head and see strange sights. he slowly lost his mind over a time period of 500 years. In his spells his madness and his darkest nightmares began to take form.
Since he was a monster he couldn't live with human beings - he was forced to live in solitude in his castle which whitered away with time. He stalked and kidnapped the young females of villages and towns that laid near his deserted castle, he took them to his castle and ate them. He developed an particular taste of young females - kinda like a gourmand. Numerous times villagers tried to kill him. At the end he was driven from his castle after that the army of the kingdom set it on fire. He was forced to live as a ghost in the woods.
He became a myth known as the ghost of the woods. He remained in the woods only to emerge when he had to feed. Nowatimes he couldn't be to picky about what he ate - he even ate children that had gone lost in the woods.
One day he discovered that if he ate strong and powerfull persons he would gain their powers. He emerged from the woods and hid his body and face with a large coat that covered him from top till toe.
He went out to devour the strongest he could find.

Reason: Marelius heard of a place where powerfull people was gathered and he got to that place to eat as many men and women he could to gain more power.

Name: Unknown, but she is often goes by simple names like "The Merchant" or "The Trader".
Sex: Female.
Age: In her early 30s.
Race: Human.
Occupation: Coffee Trader. A lethal occupation in the future.
Skills: Fast, Agile and Silent. Even while carrying around lots of equipment and goods. Can handle guns, rifles and knives with ease. Has three types of weapons. Sniper Rifle for long distance, a type of battle rifle for mid distance and a knife for close combat. She also carries plenty of "drugs", seeing as Caffeine is an outlawed drug in the future. She has syringes, pills and beans with various types of modified caffeine. Who knows what they all do! Her goggles also protect her from damaging rays.
Personality: The Merchant has always had to either stay out of sight or attempt to blend in when amongst other people. Thus her true personality rarely shows. She needs to tone everything down, speak little, show little emotion and just get on with work. What might she be hiding!?
History: There are plenty of people like the merchant out there, but many will not live long. In the future, all types of mind altering drugs are strictly banned and anyone found using or selling is punished by the state. Trading in Caffeine is asking for the death sentence. But if you are skilled enough, you can make a fortune in coffee beans. How the Merchant got into the trade is unknown, but she is doing an exceptional job so far and has many buyers.
Reason: She heard rumours of free growing coffee plants in this area. Even though it probably is not true, she needs to check it out.

About the image, you can choose to either attach an image (which I think is preferred?) by going to the bottom of the page when you're creating the post and clicking "manage attachments", or put a link for the image in between: [.IMG] [./IMG] without the dots.

History: This [thing] came to earth on a mission for his planet. He soon became bored of his mission and disconnected the homing device located in his brain. Doing this caused a major problem with his memory disallowing him to remember ANYTHING. [except how to fight] He roamed earth killing people for his joy, and the hope that it would help him remember something about his background, and has become widely known as the UNKNOWN.
Reason: Heard of a fight going on between other humans and intergalactic beings. Maybe somebody from his homeis there.

wow this is awsome i will have a character up (asap)... I like how people draw the 2 characters battling putting a twist on the other persons style of art....but wouldnt it be cool if there was some type of battle system kinda like D&D and a story line as well

hey man..same problem i had..
first of all, make sure u have ur drawing on a hosting website..imageshack will do just fine..
u cant upload on this forum directly from ur hard drive..
then, DONT use the "quick reply" but go to the normal "reply" mode..
above the txt box(that is the place to write) there is a small yellow square with some mountains (think so)..click that square and a pop-up window will show demanding u to enter the URL of ur image..u get the URL by going on imageshack (btw:think u have to register-about 30 sec) and beneath ur image is a proper URL for posting on forums.copy-paste it in the box demanding it..

And don't worry about the whole D&D/pokemon/whatever thing, he was talking about a previous suggestion by another user, which i also agree with mes. no to the whole battle system thing. Since it is a battle royal too many rules would suck the fun out of it just making it an art contest, which i clearly said it was not.

Cool, we all seem to be on the same page, you may want to modify the original post to include some of these guidelines if u can, Koeifan. BTW this thread was a great idea!

A few other thoughts for your guys consideration:

Participants shouldn't hesitate to cause severe damage to other characters, although try not to completely mutilate everybody from the very beginning ALL the time, we want some good battles - agreed? The characters "controller" can decide for themselves if they want to regenerate that character or kill the character off in which they can come back with a new one. If the character regenerates and/or comes back to life they should show (draw) how.

It would be cool if SOME kind of storyline developed but it should happen organically, this means respecting other peoples ideas and trying to compliment each others creativity- don't get ur undies in a wad if someone draws something different from the way you envisioned it., if we do this right this thread will kind of become an collaborative online comic book.
private messages can be sent to members to suggest ideas, coordinate attacks, or collab on pictures. - yeah thats a good idea, no??

one last thought to chew on:
a character that can transform or replicate other characters, hehe. I shouldn't give away ALL my ideas.

As the reaper was traveling threw the woods he noticed two objects joined in an epic battle.... He wanted to stay out of it, but a strong evil entity devoured the air and somthing in his soul compeled him to join the battle.. so he stands in the shadows waiting for the right moment to attack.

I think we need a map over the iland that they're fighting on. I think it needs an deserted town, a jungle, a desert, mountains with snow and much much more cool stuff to make this as epic as possible.

I'm not sure about a map, might limit things a little too much, although it would definitely be cool if certain battles had a designated environment and time of day, like for example: Lord M finds refuge in an abandoned city, show it in a landscape drawing or as a background for an attack scene or whatever.

about the map... i agree, that it would be cool, if you know, whos where atm. but i wouldnt make a statik map with an exact terrain. maybe some small limitations, but: if someone wants a new place, he can draw a it and put it somewhere on the map.. like a new city here or a new dungeo thing/island, subterran area, flying island, other planes... there and so on. i think it wouldnt limit things too much, but it makes it possible to interact with the landskape much better than now.

Reason: he is nearly unable to feel any real emotions. only during combat, he is able to 'feel' and to release his emotions. then he is furious and if he drain some lifie energy from others, he may become temporary mad. then he will try to kill everything in range in his euphoric rage.
...so in general he fights for fun.

Yeah, the battle is getting good! Everyone seems eager to fight, and you guys came
up with quick responses! I'm afraid I won't have time to respond until the weekend, but
hey, I'm hoping our good example is attracting more people.
For one thing, I would love to see some action from Dave or The MEN. For you guys:
to join into the battle, just draw your character attacking someone else, doesn't matter
if that character is already busy fighting. Don't hold back by thinking "oh everyone's busy
fighting someone else, there's no spot for me". It's a big free for all, and that means
that anyone can attack anyone at any time (even when they're down).
Just try not to kill anyone with your first attack =s, but other then that, no rules here :3

ive been waiting for someone to attack my character forever... im not sure on how i should go about attacking someone because i finish my drawing then the character i drew end up in a different battle

Well, when you start out with your first attack, it will always be with
someone who is already busy fighting. But that's ok! We are not doing 1 vs 1
battles here, we're a free for all. If you drew yourself attacking someone,
just post it, even if they start attacking someone else. And think about it,
butting into a fight is perfect, since it gives you an interaction with two
people at once, one enemy to draw attacks against and one friend
(your enemy's enemy)!

I can understand that you'd not want to post your drawing if it creates a
plot hole (for instance, attacking Lily would be kind of hard right now, since
she's buried under a 10 ton diamond), but that doesn't mean you never get
to post that attack. Just wait for your targets reply, where they undoubtedly
return themselves to the status quo (more or less), and then post your
attack. ;)


And while I'm at it...
I'd like to do an open invitation to all characters who don't have a fight yet:
Come join us! We'd love to fight you! Don't be shy, because we're not too busy
with other battles. We are all open and taking any opponents, you just have to
let us know you're there. By kicking us in the face :3

Ok I'm beginning to notice a trend here...
When I said the ninja/gunslinger-theme was well represented, I didn't mean
that as a bad thing. We need ninja's and gunslingers, since this is a battle
royal! All characters in here should be able to deal serious damage and should
do so most/all of the time. Don't make characters just because they are funny
or have a cool catchphrase whenever they kill someone, make characters
because you can image dozens of gory attacks for them! After all, this still is
Battle Royal.
