Hey there :) I'm interested in learning how to make concept art. What programs do you use to create this kind of art? Do you use a tablet or a mouse? Sorry for the newbie questions I just don't know where else I could ask about this. :)

1) Creating concept art does not require a computer. Many people work with traditional media.
2) For those who do work digitally, Painter and Photoshop are the most common 2D programs.
3) Although it is possible to do good work with a mouse, if you are serious about digital painting a tablet will be a better option.

Thanks :)
Just got a tablet so I guess I'm lucky.. I already do normal sketching with it.
Any things you'd recommend to a beginner? :)

I don't know what your skill level is, so I'll just give you the standard:
1) Draw from life (figures, still life, landscapes) as much as possible.
2) Study artistic anatomy regularly (George Bridgeman, Stephen Rogers Peck are good authors to start with).

concept art is a very wide field so i would not only concentrate on figure drawing... it is about a good design first of all, also architecture, physical and mechanical understanding.
Does not need to be very artistic.

Thanks for the replies. :)
Just ordered Constructive Anatomy. I find it very easy to draw fictional characters and coloring them seems to be going better daily.. humans and landscapes are a complete nightmare so I want to focus on improving that. Where exactly do you start when you're trying to draw a landscape?

Any recommendations on books related to industrial design and architecture that would help? Looking for something more technical/learning based books. Thanks!
