So I finally got the courage to actually get a sketchbook in this "professional people" place. I have migrated here from deviantart, and it might show. So tear me to shreds, since I'd like to get better.

The first image is something that I've had in my head for a while now. A giant monster towering over a brave but obviously doomed hero. High-fantasy. Problem is, what i can imagine, i very often cannot draw.

Then we got the necromancer entering a cave. He was done for a friend who makes a pen-and-paper roleplaying fantasy game. The website might or might not be up, since it is in "beta" stage, and is hosted at his PC: www.weylahn.net (http://weylahn.net) . Too bad he scaled the image to approx 300x300, but heck, it looks so much better that way!

The dark elf warrior was done after a night of browsing WarhammerAlliance forums. Yes i am a fanboi.

PS: someone give me any tips on how to draw rain, since what i do is not cutting it.

pft, no reason to be shy, i have a DA acct too. good to see you finally made an sb hehe
i'm not really good with crits, and i'm sure you're tired of hearing "do more studies" as it's said every few hrs on irc :P well studies help with the imagine-and-draw part, since you have a better idea of the basics first before you do something creative with it

rain will usually look like very thin and very broken lines, yours look abit too thick maybe. btw, MikeC's (http://www.youtube.com/user/MikeCorriero) Storm Bringer (part 4 if i'm not mistaken) vid on youtube has a rather neat rain technique (other than the fact that he paints awesomely hehe), hope that helps :)

Oh yeah, I've seen that video, and noted the rain part especially.
Will have to try and do something with rain, just to practice that.

Really deep into my schoolwork, which (not surprisingly) is NOT art. I am a biomed student. You see zombies in the streets, blame me for not sealing the virus testtubes.
But i want to work on this monster for some reason, just cant get the vision out of my head yet.

Actually, I'd take the other head of the monster, the one that probably head isn't:) You know, I mean the pedestal or what, which the mage stands on. That face is just much more cooler.

That guy who is making the pen and paper RPG is now testing out a browser-based sci-fi game. About spacepirates. And he wants some drawings from me. So here is a sketch of a Tedh, an alien that will play a major role in this spacegame, as the mortal enemy of humanity.

Sketch not finished by the way.

Hm.. i really cannot draw women. No idea of how women look like :O
This has to be solved somehow... Seriously tho, tired of dark and brooding black/white monsters. Here is some WIP with happy colors and teenage tits.

Apparently poorly-rendered mermaid titties are against Photobuckets terms of service.
Here they are in their pink glory, WIP Mermaid:

ModDB.com Concept Art competition is upon me. There are several themes to chose from, and I chose "Warlord" after a few sketches.

Here is what I've got:

Not much creative work done this week, since I have a LOT of chemistry to work on. Exam next week on friday, and everybody is scared. This thread is becoming more and more of a blog that nobody reads, but what the hell, I need to complain about uni to someone.

Selfportrait as a vampire, at CGTalk.
I was in there last year, felt an obligation to do the same this year.
So ta da: the old vampire from 2006 and the new from today:

More shenanigans. Too lazy to scan all the pencilwork i produce during boring chemistry lectures. Will have to do a big big big dumpage of them sometime.

The alien attack attempt-at-enviro is inspired by my epic mod projects, that will never see the light of day. Same goes for the devilish superhero, he is for the same mod actually.
The mecha was done in 15 minutes, as part of a 2 hour 3d modeling challenge i held for myself, since i was bored.
Green snakes attacking the lone soldier person are inspired by the Riddick movies. Something like an invasion of earth, and we are left without a chance to survive.

Some small mech thumbs for a friend's UT3 mech/mecha mod project.
All interested in drawing for this guy (who has the skills to mod, and has proven it before) head to #gutterrunners on Quakenet, and speak to Nic2

Some more thumbs, this time they will become zombie mutants, or mutant zombies for the abovementioned Crysis mod. Also a mech that came out of the previous thumbnail section. Guess which number it is?

Pencil sketches galore.
I finished a sketchbook, too bad that there were only 20 things i scanned, and even fewer are worthy getting up here.

Hmm, I haven't seen your stuff till now. As much as time as I spend looking through stuff thats weird.

Anyway, you got a nice start going to your book. One thing I notice though is in your greyscale images, you didn't separate the foreground and background through value enough. It makes them merge and flattens the image. For instance the dinosaur and figure in post #6, it feels like the figure is directly above the dinosaur because there isn't much separation in value. One needs to be substantially darker and the other lighter.

Just something to keep in mind. But overall good start, don't forget to include some studies and stuff too.

I should stop reading Lovecraft that much. But i really can't! Going mad etc.
Also, need to do studies, and use reference. Start noticing that i could do a lot better if i took the time to actually research what i am drawing or painting.
Have filled a new sketchbook with doodles for the Moira World RPG my mates are making, but am yet to scan them to show off my leet pencil skills.

Nice sketchbook!
Love your lighting / great lines / great sketches / creative / unique / badass creatures.
Favorite = green robots in post 15 (5 seconds before he becomes a smear)
Post 4 Guy is kick ass.

One thing you could work on is your human figures / faces.
They're far from misshapen, but their poses and expressions could be more varied / natural / anatomically correct, at least from what's posted here.
Life/reference drawing! Combined with quick little black figure sketches like you've been doing (everyone should do it, all the time; I know I don't do it nearly enough to be preaching about it, but the principle is solid :)).

Keep posting! I really like this sketchbook so far.

Thanks man. Will not be posting a lot of digitals anymore.
Going away to serve my country for a year, and that means only drawing in a sketchpad. Expect updates with pencil/ballpoint drawings now and then.

Not much to show for such a long time, but still here we go. I have this leutenant, who is a badass motherf*cker. Threw a 85 kilo guy on his shoulders, with full combat gear (that's 20 kilos extra) and ran faster to some meeting point than us soldiers, who only carry ourselves. I am making a (hopefully) funny comic about him being a superhero. Here is a "first page" thing:

Nowadays, i am a trainee chef at a restaurant. The army wants to make a good cook out of me, so me (and all the other cooks) are training in restaurants. This means we get to live in our home towns for 2 weeks. Which leads to a lot of drawing on my behalf.
Broke my promise, digitals again. 3d paintover is a Spacemarine scout, intellectual property of Games Workshop, but made for these guys (http://40ksource.com)
No scanners nearby :/

I like your compositions, the epic pic with the guy versus the huge machine is fantastic and probably worth refining more. I would love to see some more environments out of you.

I detect a definite mood in your work which is a pretty good thing to have.

Restarting my sketchbook.
Let's open up a can of badass with three quick studies of a man from a time when men where robots, women were crazy, and leather jackets were cool!
Took a bit under 2 hours to make, the bunch of them.

Probably my first still life.

hey, on crit at this level, is that you should think more about compositions, and maybe move the character to the left or right and extend the work space

if you put your character in the center the viewer eye don't really focus on it but of 4 points going from golden ratio
this are the crucial points on which viewer looks first
http://img40.imageshack.us/img40/2848/w1v08.jpg (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/40/w1v08.jpg/)

of course there are others divisions but this one is the easiest

cheers

Thanks takashmen! I'll see if I can work something out with that image.
One more unfinished piece getting thrown in. There is some story behind it, but who cares.
Reference for the girl is from Marcus Ranum (will probably replace that girl with an other one, better posed one).
Demon guy is from a photo of me.
