Hey everyone, Just thought I'd throw this up here for some C&C. He's pretty much done, but I can always learn for the next model I do.

Modeled in Max, Textured in PS.

Thanks for the comments. What can I say about the nose....to each his own I guess...it's a stylization call and I wanted to try melding an old Disney esque type of deal.
Your opinons are appriciated all the same though.

hey that armor is really nice.
Texturing looks great too!

Though I would love to see some detail shots of the mesh if you don't mind??

also could you describe briefly how you went about making this guy?

It's Tintin the Barbarian!

(Though I assume the "really bad" part isn't referring to Hergé.)

this is really cool but still, that nose is just horrible, its the only thing i really see wrong with him

No wonder we are running out of creativity when people see this nose as being "wrong".

i don't think the nose is wrong. i think the nose doesn't flow well with the rest of the figure. His clothes and armor are really nicely modeled and detailed, but the nose is really simple and shocking when grouped with the rest of the figure. Balance and unity are really important in design and unless you want the focal point of your figure to be the nose, it might be good advice to redesign it so it blends well with the rest of the figure. that's my two cents.

His beard looks like a piece of wood jammed into his chin. Besides that it's a good model. :D I like the boots.

Wow some interesting responses.

The nose what can I say...to me it's a matter of taste, I like it. I posted this on CGtalk and people on there seemed to like it too.

The beard, I agree somthing feels off about it. I'm going to have to mess with the the texture shaders some more to get it too feel more like hair.

All in all thanks for all the comments I really do appriciate them and they all help me grow.

:) I really like the piece. The nose doesn't bother me. The goatie only looks funny because the darkish edge around it, makes it look like it's sunk into his chin, rather then sticking out of his chin.

Really nice armor.

very stylish! THe face seems to be cartoony while the rest seems a bit more "real" I like it!:chug:

The face kills the hard work that you put into it. The body is really cool but it feels that you just decided to pay less attention to the face. A teacher told me that your best work is only as good as its worst piece. And I think this is perfect example there's allot of attention paid to the body but first thing we notice is that the nose bothers us.
Besides that i think you may try applyin some transparency maps for your hair towards the tips same goes for the bear. It seems that the texture of the hair was hand painted and it looks okay for what it is but I "personally" think that maybe use real pics just for shits and giggles.

wow thats really cool, for some reason his face and the way he's posed in that right shot reminds me of jak from jak and daxter
