These are concepts I worked up at a previous job, and since the game's been out for a while, I thought I'd just go ahead and let you all see this stuff:

The Wendigo at the bottom is my favorite.

that's an interesting wendigo...i've always imagined them as a half-wolf half-man creature but much larger than a man. I think that's the native american legend anyway.

I'm sure I'm way way off the mark as far as the actual legendary description goes. I tried to incorporate a long furry dreads (like from a musk ox) antlers, hooves, and a spectral chaotic quality to the floating body. The rotting deer face is key, too. But since it is supposed to be a very powerful deep forest spirit, I appropriated the name Wendigo, without intending any disrespect.

I hate it when someone photomanips, and then tries to pass it off as their art.

Is it that obvious the gargoyle painting started out as a photo of John Malkovich? And I worked so hard to disguise it! Damn you Sherlock.

There is something very creepy about your style. i can't place my finger on it.

I got it! It's as if these drawings were made hundreds of years ago by some mad monk and then were recently unearthed in an archeological dig. Every line is very deliberate.

I like them very much. A little stiff, but so are many of my pieces, so I'm one to talk......

Keep it up!

The sure is a lot of sass around here coughhorusbradfordcough.

3bleadpencil - the game is Shadowbane. The headless/daelanc/plague gorger/necrocephelac and the roc are the only two that made it into the game - I didn't have time to finish the others, sad.

Muttonhead - thanks for the "creepy monk" comment - I can live with that. I'm pleased that you picked up on the deliberate intentional line quality. I'll try to work out the stiffness in the future.

MCM - thanks for remembering me and welcoming me back. I've missed the action around here.

....the Roc didn't make it either!:nopity:

Hmm.. I could be wrong, but there is only one online game (or series) I know of that has a "headless" monster in it.

Neat work - thanks for sharing. :D

Edit: Ooop - apparently there's more than one game that has a headless now. Carry on. ^__^

The only games I know with headless people are first-person-shooters, and guess who is headless ;)

Anyway there's nothing better than quake1 in opengl...eehm MMORPG oh yes! Great stuff. I love the color of the colored one

Darn it Horus, I liked the Roc!

Lost Dragon - You're right, and since the "Headless" were an original name and critter (to the best of my recollection) in the Ultima series, we had to come up with an interesting look and a new name - hence it started as "headless" then changed to "necrocephelac" meaning "deadhead" not "corpse f**ker" then "plague gorger" then "dalaenc".

Sadly I lost the high rez master of the texture map somewhere along the road, or I'd go ahead and let you see it, it was pretty nice.
