Tonight was a little slow, so I decided to crack open photoshop and experiment a little bit with an old drawing. This is a style I've never used before, and I'm interested to see what people think. It's obviously nowhere near done, but what are your opinions so far? Crit away, any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your time.

it's cool- nice clean graphic style with the rendering being a strong focal point... i would love to see the contrast pushed even farther with stronger lights and darks and the values really describing the form. but it still looks great as it is!

Thanks for the replies guys.

jlo - I seem to often get the issue of contrast brought up every now and then in my art classes as well. I think that in this case it may be because I have not worked on the rest of the image but I'll keep your comment in mind as I work on it more.

Theo - Thanks, I appreciate the vote of confidence. I'm still working on how to get the images to look more modeled, but due to the thick lines, it makes it a little difficult. Maybe I should just continue on the path I'm on..

Thanks again.

though you could play with the hood shadow, it might give a nice effect. something like this.... :)

I really like this. Can't wait to see it finished.

R_M - that's a good idea, bringing out the shadow cast by the hood more.

Very cool style. It's like cell-shading/outline combined with normal shading in 3d rendering. I love it!
The shadows is nice but I don't like that the lights on the eyelids etc turn greenish.

R_M: Yeah, I've considered playing with the hood too but with the light source from where it is, it might make things a little difficult, I'll see what I can do though.

Groover McNab: Thanks for the comment, I'm working on it little by little. I've found that I almost like just having the face rendered and the rest flat but I will probably work on the actual clothing a bit more.

Milho: Well the green is from a quick do over by R_M to help me out, it's probably because he used burn in photoshop and that threw the color off some.

Thanks again to all you guys for giving me a hand. I'll have some updates soon, I've been busy wrapping up summer classes but that's done so now I can waste even more time in front of my computer.
