I'm appaled at my own lack of productivity over the summer, but I've managed to whip up a few decent skecthes, assembled here for your consideration. I apologize in advance for the lack of quality in these sketches. I try, I try...

These are two sketches of the same character, the top one being the more recent. Ignoring the fact that the first one isnt shaded and the horrible abs on the second one, which character design do you think is better?

Well, thats all for now! C+C on any of these pieces would be appreciated!;)

in my humble opinion, your line thickness is too THICK, or try varying the line thickness, it'll make a world of difference. the girl on the very bottom, her sleeves look like huge muslces to match her abs. and the nightmare inspired zombie, its kind of confusing too much goin on?
:D

You're right, monkey, I really need to work on varying my thickness. But it seems whenever I try, i go overboard and make them way too thick. I really don't know how I could improve the zombie. I know it can be done, just not HOW, so if you could give me any specific suggestions, that'd be great! And I really must disagree on you about the sleeves in the last one. Those would have to be some REALLY abstract muscles, if that's what they were. Plus the color doesn't fit.

I draw like that too and need to work on the same stuff.

Take the zombie and trace over it - then see if you can get the lines nice and smooth. Make lines in the dark wider and lines in the light thinner. It would be a good exercise.

Well, that's my suggestion anyhow. I don't know how to get there from here either. :(
