Hi all! Thank you for viewing my sketchbook. Critiques are very much appreciated - Thanks in advance!

A huge shoutout goes to sirgreensock (That's SIR to you mr!) and to Ryn for getting me to put this sketchbook up. I would have probably never done so without the push so thank you both of you.

Here is the first batch of drawings:

draw from life, or reference more. practice drawing elipses and squares. think about perspective all the time. draw through... like draw things that wont even be seen, like x ray vision. then erase out.

Your figures have a good sense of gravity. now its a matter of confidence in your strokes... which my friend only comes by drawing hella lot. draw things and even if the line isnt going the way you want it to keep the pencil on the paper. try and draw shit with a single line. takes away a lot of the fear of what you want to put out if you dont give a shit and be reckless for awhile. once youve loosened up, proceed to spend more time on ur drawings.

just practice. believe in yourself, and aim for the long term impossible goal by breaking it down into tiny possible ones.

Wow thanks OBX for that great crit! I don't draw from reference hardly ever and you totally got me on that. I'm going to be taking life drawing 2 or maybe 3 times a week so hopefully i'll really pick up some skills and line confidence from that. thanks for the advice man! i'll update with the new stuff i do.

Yayay John! Keep the updates coming!
You definitely need to work on cleanin up and tightening the work. The last one for example would be a great concept if you were to actually slow down and do it neatly.
Beyond that you NEED more drawings from life, and not just faces and quick studies either. I wanna see some full figure studies, and all kinds of subject matter.
Im glad youre not rushing into value btw, focus on the line quality for now!
