The topic was sounding a bit gloomy so I used artistic license.

I sketched this during my lunch-hour. Would have liked to have spent longer on it - I'll probably have another stab at this topic later on.

Ashton - I like your creature, has a nice dopey feel about it. I'd love to see the image all tightened up.

My humble submission, I think I covered every part of it :)
It took about 100min in Photoshop.

Ok I never did the DSG before, tried for a campy '50s horror movie feel but don't know if it comes across...

Spent about 2 hours on this on Photoshop, a bit over the time limit (sorry!)

I really like ashton's drawing but they're all good :)

EDIT: for some reason this picture doesn't show on my home comp (it did at work... can other people see this?)

EDIT2: ok, finally I got this to load... hooray!

Ahwell, at least I'm painting/sketching with my tablet.

Edit: I really dig yours Mitze, and maybe on some level mine was influenced by yours.

I'm not happy at all with this one... I've been fighting sickness for a few days now, and work exploded all of a sudden on me, so staying awake alone was difficult, let alone trying to get this the way I wanted. Was going for hyper-perspective and emerging from darkness, yet ended up with distorted and unclear ><

Nice pics by everyone. Especially for one of the more difficult daily draws.

watereater. a lot of nice creatures there.

Calcaneus. good job add a bit of colour now.

dabble. Great pic nice mood.

Woodlandwalker. Nice dynamic monster.

I carried on and tighten the pic up. I could have just edit my original post but i think this version has lost something. The clouds are a photo. If i have more time i will fix up the little people especially the guy on the horse.

A quick tip, I think a lot of these paintings would benefit from a lower horizon line. dabble's has a great sense of scale; if you're a human looking at a huge creature, you're looking up, which means the horizon line will be at the lower third at least of the frame. If the horizon line is higher, you just lose that sense of scale. For example, Woodlandwalker, good idea putting those pyramids in there for scale, but they almost look like toy pyramids. If the HL were lower, they and the creature would look a ton more massive.

to all: very nice paintings today :}
Mitze: your warm coloring is very pretty, got real desert-feeeling
dabble: nice depth in your painting. Like the way how you use brown and blue.
