It took about an hour or so, don't really have lighting or shading education so bear with em, I'll be learning them throughout my school year, crits are welcomed for both pics.

The spider is cute, the roses are well rendered, and need shaded. You should choose a light source and work from there. The start of shading is a good starting point to work with. Good stuff, I still suggest you start a daily sketchbook here or a DSG or maybe try a challenge work (where you work on a subject similar to the dsg, but work on it as if it were a job).
