ok, didn't know where to put this since it deals with Vista and its issues. Perhaps its also my new computer, but I need some advice and help.

Recently I noticed that every time I use a tool in photoshop that requires a brush like stroke, (example brush tool, pencil tool, stamp, etc) their is a instant where the cursor changes to a loading circle swish and to the normal arrow and then back to the photoshop style cursor.

I have a new intous tablet and here are the details of my computer

Vista Home Premium 32 bit

Gateway gm5420
Intel Core 2 Duo 6300 1.8ghz
2 gb of ram expandable to 4

and I think my video card is a intel built in thing, the main reason the computer was inexpensive I think

I noticed the loading issue happens with both my regular mouse and the tablet. It has become a major nuisance, every stroke it pops up, painting digital has become really frustrating.

I noticed that when I pull up the task manager my cpu usage when using photoshop goes up to almost 75-85 percent on a relatively small file.

Does anyone have ideas? I don't know which company I should go to, I tried Wacom, but it doesn't seem to be a specific wacom issue?

I don't believe I had this problem when I first had this computer and tablet together.

Thanks

Ev

What version of photoshop are you using? I found that CS performs sluggishly when used with Vista, whereas CS3 fixes this issue. You're computer should be able to handle Photoshop without any slow downs as far as I'm aware. The onboard graphics might be holding you back, but I haven't heard of that before in a 2d program like photoshop.

Also maybe you can try this:

go to Control Panel - > then Hardware and Sound - > then Pen and Input Devices. Go to the Flicks Tab and turn that off (untick "Use flicks to perform common actions quickly and easily")
- you might also try turning off the "Show pen cursors instead of mouse cursors when i use my pen" in the Pointer Options Tab.

Also, vista has some annoying Tablet PC Settings (such as the Tablet Input Panel) which you can turn off in that section of the control panel.

What I want to know is: is it possible to buy a new PC without getting vista? Because I'm not letting that anywhere near my house.

I think Dell still offers XP as an option on some models.

I had this problem with vista and my cintiq, I found some Beta Drivers from wacom site for Win vista, and it fix all of it.

It should be possible to order a white box pc. Noone can force you to use vista, or any microsoft os for that matter.

I doubt it's the IGP, too.
That Gateway should be equipped with a GMA X3000 which is quite similar to an ATI 9600 card and it even runs Battlefield2 (http://youtube.com/watch?v=OogVYWQLAhM) (on low-mid details, but it runs nonetheless).

What I want to know is: is it possible to buy a new PC without getting vista? Because I'm not letting that anywhere near my house.Just ask whoever you're buying it from if you can get it without or with a different OS than vista.
Or just build your own computer from scratch.
