My Journey - A progression thread

Well I guess ill start by introducing myself. My name is Ryan Monday and I am currently a 3d animation/modeling student. I have never taken any drawing classes or even tried to pursue it on my own. It has become very evident to me the past few months that traditional art is an integral part of 3d art. So as the semester is about to start I decided to take a figure drawing class. I am mostly a shy person about my art, however I decided to start a progression thread like others because I have seen many teachers and awesome artists giving awesome crits/suggestions.

So with that said here are my firsts, done tonight.

Please go easy as these are really my first ones without any instruction yet.

So today i step into the doors of my first drawing class ever, we did gestures all day from the nude model each gesture we had 2-3 minutes to do.. Also i did a pencil of freescetch between some of my classes, nothing special just trying to keep a log of my progress!

Great start, man. Now lets see you make this thread huge. That's the way to do it, just keep doing more. This stuff you posted so far is not bad, I think the gesture done in red is the best of those.

the ones from the first post look pretty good too, for never taking a class at all. honestly, you're starting out better than a lot of people do. keep it up and keep posting.

I was recently given this advice, and I'll pass it on to you:

Draw what you see, not what you think you see.
