i did a search and didn't find this posted so here goes:

for anyone who bitches that they don't know where to begin when a blank piece of paper stares back at them.

I found this on the Dani Draws blog (http://danidraws.com/):
Dani writes:
This month’s book recommendation, Wreck This Journal, is less of a book and more of a blank journal/activity book. Creator Keri Smith’s concept is quite unique — each page tells you to do something specific, like “Burn this page”, “Draw with your left hand”, or “Poke holes here.” The book encourages you to deface it in many strange and wonderful ways, sparking your creative process along the way.
So, instead of putting your cash down on a dreadfully expensive, hardbound treasure that you’re afraid to make the slightest mark in, give this sketchbook a spin. Do your best to destroy it — and create something beautiful.

For anyone who's ever wished to, but had trouble starting, keeping, or finishing a journal or sketchbook comes Wreck This Journal, an illustrated book that features a subversive collection of prompts, asking readers to muster up their best mistake- and mess-making abilities to fill the pages of the book (and destroy them). Acclaimed illustrator Keri Smith encourages journalers to engage in "destructive" acts-poking holes through pages, adding photos and defacing them, painting with coffee, and more-in order to experience the true creative process. Readers discover a new way of art and journal making-and new ways to escape the fear of the blank page and fully engage in the creative process.

I saw that in the Artist's Magazine this month. She is going to make a mint off the thing. If course, the idea of taking your sketchbook in the shower was....intriguing...

I started my own "Wreck This Journal" project yesterday.
Almost set my flat on fire.

This project rocks.

Oh, and you don't really need to buy the book to get started.
Keri Smith gives the first 27 wrecking ideas away for free (http://www.wreckthisjournal.com/?page_id=15) and there's also a flickr gallery (http://www.flickr.com/groups/how_to_wreck_a_journal/) of people's wrecks. :D
