ooooh. That wouldn't be hard to be better than the first one. At least this time it looks like the bad guys get to have more of a kill tally.

"Well... Let's see... what can we add to the last one to make it better?"
"Gore"
"Yeah, all the movies do it these days. It works"
Seriously, people who make that kind of stuff are sadistic freaks.

More intense action won't make it more dramatic. This movie is more like slaughter-fiction rather than science-fiction :).

What the hell? They should have named it Aliens vs. Predator vs. Rambo. This sucks :D

All I see is flashes of Jurassic park 2, alone in the dark, alien, predator, outbreak,...

aw man...
terrible trailer very poorly edited. Some of the shots look like they were very unimaganibly directed too.
Also, they have the "beautiful Hollywood young'uns", the flavour of the day if you will, taken from random hot shows that turn up in all the shit high school horror films.
And a cute kid. I bet for some reason he doesn't get impregnated... "I mean gory yes, but hey lets play it safe right?" -producer
Also there is so much exposition, it feels like Ive already seen the movie.
Still, second viewing, it looks better.

Can some one please explain to me why they arent going with the Space Marine era and keep using modern earth? Werent all the games and comics in the future using the Aliens era time frame? How many fucking times can the same races of people crash land on the same planet? Are they going to try and link this to the first in any way? Is Micheal Bay directing?

It's business. Money. Merchandising.
Computer games changed some years ago. From one day to another, there were no sci-fi games. Then came the realism hype with all kinds of special-forces and world-war X games. The same is happening to movies. It's not cool to be special anymore. You have to be bland and gray to succeed. Why spend a certain amount of money on making cool planets and space stations when you can save the money by transferring the plot to earth and spend the fx-money on cool looking splatter and creatures?
At least it's not PG-13.

Yeah, this, I want colonial marines.
To be fair this trailer is more enjoyable than the entirety of the first AvP movie but as an Aliens nerd what I want to see are nukes, dropships, smartguns and carnage.
Lets go to the Alien homeworld* and blow shit up ala Starship Troopers, throw some invisible mentalists in there and we have ourselves a movie.
*Also, if they aren't Bioweapons wtf kind of scary ass ecosystem evolves insectoid predators with acid for blood and double sets of pointy teeth? Are they the dominant predator or is there something that eats them ? Let's see them then blow them up too.
Modern day USA = not trying, and also messing with the whole timeline in an unforgivably bad "Terminator3" kinda way.

Don't, it's truly horrible.
It'll make you want to smash the television, and then Paul Andersons face.

No, AVP inst that bad. You should watch it.
I got the extended 2 disc edition, there is some good stuff on there too. Paul Anderson made one of my fave sci-fi horrors, Event Horizon, so Ill still give him a chance.
One thing that will make you want to stick knitting needles in your ears and poke real hard is the commentary's with, Paul, Lance and The lead, Sanaa Lathan.
I kid you not, she comes off as one of the most unintelligent, self absorbed and absolutley clueless people I have ever listened too... Anytime Lance and Paul get in to some real good and interesting stuff, she cuts in with the most amazing shit-drizzle I have ever heard.
Ill give you a few goodies from it.
(on the facehugger)
"Well my friend said.. that ii looks like... (under her voice) ...a flying vagina..."
Then she gets in to a tiff about a jacket that made her look fat. And then she gets in to a whole thing about how she doesn't eat the bread, just the burger. Its almost as bad as the Resident Evil commentaries, with that other stupid and self obsessed bitch, Milla Jovovich talking about her fucking nipple and crotch shot. Only redeeming thing about her is that she seems to have some self distance and quite a dirty sense of humor.
Ops.. that turned in to a rant about commentaries.

Yeah. It's got tons of great dialog like this.
Apparent Pyramid expert:"Oh my God! What were those things?"
Guy # 2:"You tell me! You're the Pyramid expert!"

timpaatkins: Interesting, maybe I'll give it a rent. As for Milla Jovovich, I'm pretty sure she has signed a contract that requires her to be nude for at least one scene in all of her movies, seriously, EVERY DAMN MOVIE.
N D Hill: rofl, Running Scared had some pretty bad dialog also.
Paul Walker: "What are you a fucking cartoon?"
Random guy: "I'm a mac-daddy-pimp, you know that!"

looks kinda cool, takes a turn toward action like how Alien2 was compared to Alien.
The gore doens't seem that out of place. some of it look poorly composited though.

Not sure but I know it can't be as bad as this (http://youtube.com/watch?v=UiWyiA77qzg).
That is the role Gary Busey was born to play.
Wasnt the original idea for either aliens 3 or some where down the line, to have the aliens reach earth? Or a space station around it, or something? Doesnt this movie totally ruin that? And the first one as well? Like, it was supposed to be a big deal. Like, Earth would be fucked if that happened. That was an impression I had in my head from something I heard or read ages ago....dunno....

There were loads of scripts for Alien3, there's a few of them here..

The William Gibson one would've been sweet and it could have set things up for an awesome 4th film.

This is really not a bad thing, I can see no possible way in which naked Milla could be a bad thing.
Unlike the first AvP movie, that was one extended bad thing.

It was pretty much the underlying theme of the entire quadrilogy. If the Alien reaches Earth, we are totally and royally fucked. Alien vs. Predator is just bad multimillion dollar fan fiction.

AVP2 looks to be a pretty close spin-off of the novel.. which is what AVP should have been in the first place. i have high hopes for this one.. the more i watch the trailer the more im ready for senselss gore and violence :) - JAG

i really like that they're going for brainless splatter movie...but i hate the fact that they're trying to have some snotty highschool kids be the main actors...they're like fast food...nothing, compared to decent characters and good actors portraying them. oh well,it did make me smile though :)
edit: looks like typically bad cutwork from paul anderson though, and i really hate that rape of tagline. ugh.
edit2: the less dialogue and more senseless killing it becomes in the trailer, the more i like it.

Good thing is that predators are not those emberassing bodybuilders from AvP.
Bad thing is WHY THE PHUCK THEY HAVE TO MAKE THE SAME SHIT OVER AND OVER AGAIN????????????????
The comics are so much more innovative, the original mystery has gone completely lost and the creatures have almost nothin new to them.
Hollywood is dying. And that is good! Fuck them and their fucking popcorn-crap.

i DONT wanna see anything new with the Predators. i liked them just the way they were. now all i wanna see is them owning aliens, humans, pets, furbies, mormons, and anything else they can. wow me with gory death scene, ive had enough gadgets and sfx. just kill people and show me.. - JAG

Without a doubt the worst trailer I have seen in years, still...something to be said about the direction they are taking this.
The key element that Alien and Pred revolve around is PARANOIA from the audience, the dread, the fear of what MAY happen if the characters we care about actually get within 100 feet of the threat.
The problem is...are we going to care about a cast that is already looking like a clone of Aliens?
Hudson if anything should have been cloned to replace Rippley in Resurrection :teeth: Now that would have been a film!

I'm actually looking forward to this despite utterly hating AvP ("Our experts tell us it's a pyramid!"). With the exception of Aliens, the Alien and Predator franchises always felt like slasher "kill-em-offs" to me: alien/monster/murderer hunts down hapless victims, they die of one-by-one in rather predictable fashion, and so on and so forth. Granted, they're done a lot better than the typical stabby-stabby dreck, but I've never felt them terribly meaningful. So, I'm all for open slaughter for a change.
However, even my righteous nerdrage will be invoked if the Predalien cloaks.

Any movie with VS in the title you know you can go to the bathroom and get some snacks, check your email, draw a bit, etc, and not miss a thing! They'll still be trying to hack each other up...
I personally avoid any vs movies like a plague. I didn't see AVP even though I'm a huge giger fan.

in basic sense any VS movie is merely a fan flick. just to see who/what would win over the other. there doesnt NEED to be any sort of relevant or logical plot. just put 'em in the 'ring' and let them go at each other. the ring being whatever environment allows for the best fight scenes :)
humans are just fodder for senseless bloodshed. who needs 'em :) - JAG

It looks awful, but it can't be any worse than the first one, what pisses me off is why show every action sequence in the trailer. There absolutely is no reason to see the movie now that I've seen every action sequence theres going to be in the movie.
The release of the AVP had the same problem, there wasn't anything new that the trailers didn't show when the movie was released. Stick to the books if anyone has time to read them. This movie looks like its going to suck hard.
