Im 7 years out of high school. Did the community college thing for a couple years then wasted a year at an art institute here all while working full time. Eventually i gave up on school, and just worked full time. Long story short the dead end job got the best of me.

So, Im looking to get back to school, and finish up this time. Initially I was set on Ringling for animation. But upon further research SVA's cartooning program has also grasped my attention. The curriculum looks really interesting. I also have a couple of friends in New York City right now so the opportunity to split rent somewhere, and save cash is a bonus for me.

My interests are in 2d animation, and gross fun cartoons, comics, etc. I realize both of the above mentioned programs are completely different, and should not be compared. Im simply looking for some insight. I'de appreciate anyone's input on the subject.

If you're interested in 2D, I'm not sure if Ringling's for you. Ringling's program is pretty heavy into CG. You only do traditional animation your freshman and sophomore year. I'm not sure how heavy SVA is on traditional animation...you'd have to do a little more research. :) But again, if you chose Ringling, you'd have to be prepared to spend A LOT of time in front of the computer.

hmmm. I don't have a problem with computers - i quite like them. but my love for animation is in the classic 2d realm.
