Finally gonna start my own daily sketchbook because I've been getting into the groove of drawing alot more... recently.
Here's some studies and a creature design that were done today.

Well skrubbles, i really like what you have going on with those animal studies, good poses, quite lifelike. And, i like the contrast! However, in your male studies and the creature pic, i don't see as much and i think if you made those dark shadows a bit darker it would add a bit more dimension to the forms. The darkest marks on those particular ones are the outlines. Thats my only crit, but keep up the great work, amazing studies. want more.

Nice job dude!, Only thing I think is you need to fill in the right butt cheek on the mans pose, other than that he's got a great BOD! Love The Alien Thing-it's neat looking, kinda reminds me of the creature on "Predator".

Thanks everyone!
AttackCat - I realized after I scanned them in how light they were... its a combination of it actually being drawn light (need to work on that) and having a really crappy/old scanner.
Duchess - Predator? Really? I take that as a compliment =]
the good war - Feel free to steal that style. But just so ya know, I actually stole it from Tonci Zonjic (Lung_bug)... so you might wanna check out his amazing work, because he's a lot better than I am at that look. The Animal studies were done from an old wild life book my gf has.... sorry, can't remember the name. The arms were done from "Atlas of Human Anatomy for the Artist" and the male figure studies were from "Anatomy for the Artist"... but the ab guy didn't have a head, so I had to give him one.
metalwinds - Yeah, I kinda rushed the second arm, so it looks a lil odd... it actually looks like a different arm completely. And yes I used painter 8 for the color study. I used the pencil tool to lay down the composition and then I used the oil pastels to paint it.

endregan - Thank you very much. These are actually the first studies I've done in a VERY LONG TIME. I used to hate doing them in highschool and college, but now I really enjoy doing them for some reason. I think its because I really want to improve as an artist, and these studies are REALLY helping out.
Jnorish - Thank you =]

I'm still practicing marker sketching... I have lots of work ahead of me. I'm not really digging the upper most eyeless creature, but oh well.

I like the animal ones best--there's some really solid anatomy on most of them. Well done!

About time, skrubbles!
I like the top and bottom creatures in that last image. I think the black background makes them seem more imposing.

Here's a sketch I did this morning out of boredom... well I go to scan it in and I loose a LOT of my shading. My scanner just really sucks and is really old... so I took a pic with my digital camera so that you guys can see how crappy my scanner is.

Xia - thanks... steilacoom is actually pretty close to tacoma... taking the buses I'm like 1-1.5 hours from seattle. Not nearly as far with a car, but unfortunately I don't have one... rent and bills prevent me from saving up even for a beater.
For those interested I finished the painting of the previous sketch... you can view it HERE (http://www.conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=11134)
