hello community ,,

so its come to my attention that someone has used my artwork as a submission for a unicorn museum billboard.

one of the coolest applications i could have thought of, right now its just a proposal but if it gets voted they will create it, and place the billboard next to the creationism museum

to make this dream a reality i need at least 300 more votes,

let rock this vote and make ca.org unicorn history,

place your vote for the "cyber unicorn here"

http://www.unicornmuseum.org/wp/submissions

thank you

I wonder, who are those people that want to see the battlecruiser of noah or a giant bible on a billboard?

Me and my brother used to blow my sisters barbies and my little pony's to pieces with small explosives and fireworks
It's normal for young boys who don't know better...don't see it as disrespectful towards the designers.
In the end same thing happened to GI JOE :xpld: :P

Let's stick to the topic here.

VOTED. Way to turn what would have been art theft into something truly "magical".

And Uziel, why did you choose Rarity the Unicorn for your example? Surely you could have gone with Lily Lightly, who's eyes blink when you push the star on her magical amulet and horn magically lights up and dress sparkles with 3 LED lights embedded in the fabric and sports the best damn ass symbol to ever grace the hocks of a pastel equine!

srry to dissapoint you
It was the first one that popped up on google.

You know some of them really smelled bad, they added some kind of flavor to the "special" ones - my guess rotten strawberries. even my parents complained about that.
They practically handed over C4 to us to get rid of that one.
We ALL (little sis included) nuked that one big time. I guess it's orbiting in deep space spreading rainbows and magical stardust to some fortunate alien lifeforms.
I must say normally we are a very, very peaceful family and would love to see some more cute&happy stuff on this globe.
Like a giant billboard with a huge drawing of a fellow CA member.

Man i dream of becoming a toy designer.

I was all enjoying this and about to vote....... until I realised the billboards true purpose....................... ouch. :(

The lengths people go to just to simply disagree with Christianity.

I have nothing against Christianity, and I'm pretty sure the people promoting this banner don't either.

But, the Creationist Museum deserves to be mocked for trying to promote faith as science, in the silliest ways possible. Beyond being silly, the people who funded and built this 'museum' do a serious disservice to children by giving them false and misleading information. I find that alarming.

Sorry, as a scientist and an educator, I feel very strongly about this and I worry about our country's future :(

Bowlin
August 22nd, 2007, 11:57 AM
The stakes are high. The museum argues that evolution jeopardizes people's belief in the Bible and leads to social ills like pornography and abortion.

At this rate, there will be abortion ads in our pornography!

Soooo if it wasn't for the evolution theory, there wouldn't be any porn or abortion clinics? Wow, there'd also be an awful lot of empty space on the internet.

And this (http://www.newyorker.com/online/blogs/georgepacker/2007/06/a-few-miles-sou.html) was from someone opposed to the museum.
As I was driving away, I realized what the barrage of falsehoods written on slick signboards reminded me of. It was the telescreens in “1984.” The more I read, the weirder it gets.

Steph Laberis

ROFL Uziel!

Yes, they did "flavor" some of the select few, in fact they still do. I had a coconut scented pegasus in my room that gave my roommate headaches. And in all fairness, I too blew up some of my Ponies when I was a pre-teen. I had an older borther and every year my parents bought each of us these huge fireworks assortments, so it was a recipe for disaster. What really stinks is that I blew up a mail-order Pony who fetches over $100 on ebay. :sadcheerleader:

And things like the Creationist Museum, Behe (and other Intelligent Design proponents), and people trying to get creationsim taught as science in our classrooms irritate the Heck out of me. It also makes me sad.

Also, there's no reason why we can't have more unicorns in this thread! Because unicorns make me happy.

Damn, that last nekkid unicorn on the previous page is wierd.

And to answer some comments on my post, firstly, maybe non-fundamentalist would have been a better word. Extremist sounds like they're bombing atheists or something..:D
And yeah, creationist museums and conservative christians often just serve to further the stereotype of the narrowminded christian, and I think that is bad, even though I may agree with some of their opinions. The problem I think is the presentation, that makes other people feel like their beliefs are pushed or forced on them.

Dammit, I said I wouldn't debate more! :D I shut up now. PBF rules.

There is an easy way finding a lot of "quality" unicorn art.
It's even worse than Dev. Art
[Add dramatic music tune here]

You browse elfwood use quick art search = unicorn
http://elfwood.lysator.liu.se/elfwood.pike

then again the avarage age is probably much lower too.

But who comes up with these ideas?
"let's draw a unicorn

Bowlin and Blue: Thank you!! I made that in about 5 days during my freshman year at RISD. I sculpted the unicorn, stag, mini-fountain, and the "island" with various forms of sculpey and sealed the submersed parts with marine varnish. The bowl, pebbles, moss and plants were store-bought. Sadly, it hasn't survived the many moves I've undergone since 1999, and is now in pieces in a closet at my Dad's house :sadcheerleader: I might try to put it back together when I visit him in the fall.

Goo and Seedling: Yeah, it's amazing the impression that movie has left on people. It didn't do so hot in the 80s and yet everyone seems to have seen it and of course loved it :D

So, I remembered an old episode of Zelda that was always my favorite...

Why were you afraid of Unico? I think I was just confused, more than anything. I guess I was too young to understand cats turning into girls, weird vampire guys, and little annoying blue demons :)

Oh, and Steph - that "mushroom" hunting clip... yeaaaaahhhhhhh >_> I don't think I'd be half as disturbed if the damn thing wasn't so phallic looking.

That's really rad Moai, reminds me of the Indian and Asian depictions of unicorns. And it's better that it's not the horse with a horn formula, that's actually a fairly recent depiction of unicorns. My favorite would be the European way, with the head of a goat, body of a deer and tail of a lion, like the ones in all of the tapestries. The heads were sometimes red, to depict the blood of Christ.

Ok, enough know-it-all stuff. MOAR UNICORNZ!

Love the painted pony approach to this:

http://www.wyldeart.com/Galleries/InteriorDesign/OldCrateArt/images/Unicorn.jpg

Ever hear of the mi'raj? I've heard it's either a vicious meat-eating beast or a cheerful subject of muslim poetry. Either way, it's rad:

And heck, if no one else is gonna post actual My Little Pony clips...

STpL7iWcy9Y

I don't know whats scarier, the fact that this made me actually miss the 80's (despite how briefly I was consciously a part of it), or
that I remembered the last video very vividly even though I'm certain its been 15 years since I've seen it!!! Guess the alcohol hasn't killed off all of my brain cells!

Actually I take it all back, the uniporn is definitely scary... very scary :perv:

Oh. My. God. Steph, I have been looking for that My Little Ponies vid! Or, when I was a teen, it became a strange obsession for me to try to find the last part of that Tambelon episode having seen the first part when I was a kid and not the end, but I didn't know it was called Tambelon, so I was visiting every video rental shop and borrowing all their MLP copies... But it's weird that after searching for the end of an episode of a children's show for 15 years - wow. That was disappointing : .

I don't think it's from anything, it's just a short cartoon done for Nickelodeon. I've heard it might become a series though, which would be totally mathematical!

I'm rather surprised no one's brought up Legend....
Hmm, how does one post the youtube video right on here? Oh well, a link works too I guess :)

Forgot to add I also voted for the cyborg unicorn, can't believe it's being beaten by those others....Going to vote for the cyborg unicorn on every computer I can

Realitychek beat me to it, heheh. I haven't seen Legend in ages though, but the main things I remember about it are the unicorns. :teeth:

I see there are some fans of The Last Unicorn here. I adore that film! When I was younger it used to scare me out of my wits and I didn't appreciate it as much, but a lot of it still stuck with me, and now it's one of my favourite films. I'm hoping to read the book some time soon. :)

'Uuuunicoorrn!' :D

P.S. I cast my vote for the Cyborg Unicorn too, I can't believe it's being beaten. :nohope:

I voted for you Andrew. Here's what I like about this thread. When I read this, "so its come to my attention that someone has used my artwork as a submission for a unicorn museum billboard."

I assumed it would be followed by a "whoa is me, this is a nightmare, someone tell me how to prosecute, etc."

It's nice to see an artist of your legendary calibre just roll with it, and see the beauty in thumbing your nose at a creationist museum. Good luck with the vote man!
