My first serious attempt at environments. Feng's and Scott's work was my main inspiration for these sketches I did, pretending as if I was assigned the skillful huntsman project (project headed by Scott Robertson (http://www.conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=10219)) Some of them might have gone off topic, but I enjoyed doing them.

This is when I started paying more attention to detail and structure.

scribbling is fun!
these are nice sketches. the 5th one down has a lot of depth, and the angle is very dynamic. keep it up!

these are great Iwasink, for being your first try at environments, I would say you grasped it really good!, and it even seems as if it has a different style from your other work too......way to go, man!!!

i agree with what sepulveda said. i especially like the second one, it has a cool/weird shape too it. feels anime-esque.
i prefer the ones that are listed before "This is when I started paying more attention to detail and structure."
if anything, i'd suggest some kind of horizon and smaller, distant structures/details. maybe a little atmospheric perspective when/if you decide to color/render them.
hmm i'm in a real forward slash mood today :)

These are all so great I couldn't tell you which to chose!
When doing environments I use highlights in the form of grass and other plants to define forground, middleground, and background.. Layers are key in environs so pay attention to atmospheric perspective.
You're thumbnail perspective is great.. but it never hurts to bust out a ruller for the final peice just to get everything perfect.
I'm excited to see this finished

Thanks fellas. I'm going to keep doing more, and explore farther pov's.
Sammy: Thanks, hadn't really thought about layers, and grass sure puts things in perspective. (you get it "perspective" ):p

A lot of these look REALLY influenced by Feng and Scott's work. Almost to the point of being too similar. I can recognize some of these by which piece you used as reference.
It's excellent material to study from, but I recommend trying to push your own ideas while still learning from the design and composition in other people's work.

Great roughs, i esp. like the 2nd, 4th, and 6th (the evens for some reason), they have a definite organic feel to them which i find hard to accomplish. As gasmask already stated, it would be great if you picked one and really turned out a solid finished piece. Great job so far, i'm already inspired.
