Just a quick sketch of a random character, then I decided to try and color it in photoshop.
I don't really do much painting (digital or traditional) this is pretty much my first real attempt at some digital painting (that's why I left the lines in). Any crits or pointers would be much appreciated. Tear it to shreds if you want :D

you know how people say "if you don't have anything good to say, don't say anything at all"? well forget that, i'm very willing to listen and learn from what anyone has to say.

well this one is my first attempt at using painter. just started with no reference then looked at a few pictures when adding some of the highlights and shadows. I funked up the eyes and the nose .
Like I said above, I don't really paint, but am learning a lot from looking at stuff in these forums.

on the first one it seems like her legs are too far forward to match her top and make her stomach very short.. unless shes wearing a skirt and not pants. but other than that, it looks fine to me.

i know so little about painting, so i can't offer any useful criticism, but i like this painting. my only criticism, iguess, is the blue at the bottom of the painting is maybe a bit too vibrant. keep workin at it. are you taking any color theory classes right now? there is a pretty good book for graphic designers called "Color Harmony" that might help you to pick your color schemes and it has all of the rgb and cmyk codes so that you can translate the colors in the book directly to photoshop and probably painter too, but i've never used painter. good luck! :chug:

Thanks for the crits all.
Clocktower - Yeah the blue was the base color I started with that didn't get covered up, it is a bit loud.
