howdy partners, i reckon yall like a good western as much as the next cowpoke. I wish more filmmakers would make more quality westerns---they are few and far between

i liked this movie. it had a small budget but a good story, really nice cinematography and, and the gunfight at the end was kick ass

costner has redeemed himself

there were some pacing issues, and i never really felt like i got enough time to really hate the bad guys--they didnt get alot of screen time. but the film has some really great and funny scenes. robert duvall is awesome

did i mention the gunfight at the end?--ty

I haven't seen this, but if Costner has redeemed himself this is seriously worth checking out :)

Heh. i saw the preview, it looked pretty good. I wish that they would come out with some good westerns nowadays as well. But i'm afraid they would load them with too many action cliches of our time, or maybe not. Anyone else a fan of the numerous yet undistinguishable amount of clint eastwood westerns that you may find looping on the AMC channel? :P He kicks some ass, some.

I definately like westerns. I love the old spaghetti westerns. I saw the preview (but have not seen the movie), and I am really looking forward to it. I'm very happy to hear that the 'buzz' is good.

yes tyboogie, now go back into your cage and wait for the next costner end of the world movie. this time he plays a garbageman...... in the year 2089 after something something, the world is missing garbageman, when costner finds a glove he decides to walk around and pretend to be a garbageman... the movie is him walking around picking up garage for 90 minutes, it cost 80 million dollars.

I liked it. :)

I've liked many of the Costner flicks that seem to be universally panned though. I thought Waterworld and Postman were pretty cool, myself. Oh well. To each his own.

But anyway, Open Range was a good flick. I really like a good western, especially the old Eastwood flicks. :)

Nowadays a good western is hard to come by. This movie is not just a good western though, it's just an all around great movie. The cinematography is great, the characters are well developed (simple yet defined), and the action is realistic. The gunfight in the end is probably the most realistic old west gunfight anyone has ever seen on the screen.

Great flick! Catch it if you have a chance!
