Here's my first one in two parts. The first is a 5x7 canvas, the second is a 8.5x11, both acrylics. I've only just started CG with PainterX and some other programs. Will post some of those shortly.

This one is Passage

I've worked on the watercolors in PainterX a little. I like the freedom from real watercolors (but it takes some tricks to make things look like the real thing, of course, and I don't have 'em).

And then there's my REALLY BIG painting, which started in ArtRage2 and ended up in PX. This one's killing me. I can't think of what it needs to be finished. It still looks fake.

And here's the very first one I made upon receipt of my PX in the mail. It's my actual backyard, fence and other man-made objects omitted.

Just in. I see a lot of plain-old sketches. I love 'em and it's nice to see it's not just an old H.S. fashion. I don't have much time for anything but sketches on my work schedule.

Here is some older stuff. I guess I'm still, over several years, trying to define style and what I really like to make. I can't stick with just one sort of subject, so range from people to scenery to stylized stuff. I started out as a technical draftsman, doing logos and designs, including some delving into architecture study. All of these are pencil. Some inked in progress. Color pencil.

Finding a style is one of the more difficult things artist have to grapple with. Your line drawings are pretty nice, especially this last one of the lady.

Question: when you paint in PS/Painter, do you paint over top of a sketch like this? Thats why I do whenever i'm painting, gives me a nice guide and a way to restrain myself some.

Keep up the good work.

I usually start playing with colors in Painter, fiddling around with shapes and stuff until I hit on something that inspires me (the Bunky-Bump and Kachina Gumby are examples of this).

I have used my old scanned sketches more as coloring books (taking the pencil sketches and painting color into them with Painter, sometimes tweaking and modifying for coolness).

Sometimes I do work up a sketch for drawings that will turn into large work, and those are usually "on purpose" pieces I planned on doing ahead of time. Desert Towers, above, is one of those.

I've been away from the computer for a long time. Back to work. This is a really short toss-together. I don't have any finished stuff. It's hard to finish a project, even if I have a great inspired session.

My favorite kind of work: logo and stylistic designs: Color pencil on paper

Results of random splotches and lines on the paper: ArtRage

A cartoony sort of chareactarization of my crazy daughter's mentality: Gimp

I did these last night.

I'm still practicing my humans. This is attempt number 50 or so. I'm getting better, but it's slow progress.

Started a new one. A few hours work in Painter X.

Now to see if I can finish it.

What do you think?

I tried to create a sense of broad expanse, with the promise of reaching a distant goal. I'm not sure if I'm happy with the colors, and had a lot of trouble getting the fortress to fit right. Still don't know if it's done.
