This weeks topic is "In Between", interpret as you wish.

READ THE RULES

1. Only one picture per contestant.

2. No previously used material. All photos must be fresh, shot for this challenge, and never displayed on any gallery / thread.

3. The winner of the last poll will set the next topic; if the same person stands as the winner two times in a row, he or she must choose another user to present the next topic.

4. Enhancements of the picture are allowed in terms of color management, curves, levels, crop, sharpening, etc... you know what this means. Adding or removing elements in the photo, brushed enhancements, or anything that diverts into photo manipulation territory will not be accepted.

5. No voting for your own picture. Duh.

6. The challenge starts this Thursday (August 16), the vote poll opens Friday (August 24) and closes Sunday (August 26). The winner starts a new post on the photo forum that is named "The Photo challenge - [chosen topic]".

7. The poll shall be opened Friday evening.

8. In the event of a tie in the polls, the person who created the challenge casts the tie breaking vote.

9. The winner has until 18:00/6:00 pm (GMT +2) Thursday, after he or she has won to present the next topic, if the winner fails to do so. The topic will be presented by the 2nd place person on the poll.

10. Please add a title to your picture.

When is it supposed to end then?
Or rather how long is the challenge these days, it used to be 5 days + 2 days voting I believe?

Nice one Sam. I saw it when it was saying "Creating Thumbnails" and I was like "Huh??" :D

It's supposed to be 5 + 2 voting days, but I think the lag in the last few challenges, some of us were thrown off a bit. Maybe it can be 7 + 2 instead? That way, if someone wants to use film they won't be so hard pressed.

Mr. Mu
August 17th, 2007, 04:27 PM
yes! That would give me a few days for developing (and even when I use color film I won't have to use the more expensive one-hour or same-day services...)

But, actually, I am also fine with the shorter frequency - I will just have to be more in sync with the rhythm...

Purple and Mr. Mu okay, I will put 24th as the deadline then?

purplerose
August 17th, 2007, 05:54 PM
Oh, I was fne, I was asking about the old deadlines left from the last challenge. Later on, I didn't know if Mu would have enough time since he works with film that's all. :) But I guess this would be okay for this one and then move back to regular timing for the next one? Or just 6 + 2 voting days?? I dunno, I'm thinking outloud now.

It was intentional. The shaper ones weren't too fantastic so I took a different approach.

Yeah, that's basically the only reason I took it - it looks good. Plus I had everything set up for it because I was taking similar photos (but with just one wine glass) for a photography assessment.

i may have lost my mind while looking at Leukeh Photograph, so somebody else please tell me if they see what i see in it. Well i don't know, i may be going crazy or something. Well is it just me, or...............

Wow. Crazy. V for Vendetta is one of my favourite movies! ^_^ I want my own Guy Fawkes mask...

EDIT: And I just noticed the green part sort of has a V in it at the bottom... creepy...

Cool entries so far, I'll make this challenge too, perhaps something B/W from me.
Oh and how should I post my entry, I attached last time and my picture was a link in the vote thread because of this, should I upload it to photobucket?

Okay.. some of these photos are not making sense at all.. or are ambitious attempts to make something out of nothing.. come on now.. Creative Cap on please!
That moon one is quite fascinating.. in a non "in between" way.. but its still cool.

August 21st, 2007, 05:25 PM
Creative cap? Bah! This is excellent, it's people getting out and trying new things. That's what this is all about!!!

The tomato is in between the bread and butter physically and is about to be in the sandwich (in between the slices of bread) and the bread is about to be inside the plastic sandwich bag. That's my guess, anyway.

If photos are this difficult to decipher in relation to the topic.. then we've got a problem (yes creativity too)!

the moon is in between the branches... It's rather obvious, isn't it? It's also really cool an entry...

But basically, if you don't think an entry fit then samsite is right... don't vote for it.

Each one here has his interpretation of the subject, so if you agreed with, you have to vote, if not you vote another one.
Simple and clear

:D Daniel... you're the one who started this challenge. :)

Yea, but I started the last poll. And the rules do not say whos responsibility it is to do it. ;)

This:
7. The poll shall be opened Friday evening.
I interpret as "The one who feels like he's gonna win starts the new poll". At least that's what it usually means. :P

And BTW. we really need to fix the rules. I'd say the poll should open 5 days after the challenge thread to make things simpler. Then 2 days voting. (or 7 days challenge, 2 days voting if you want a bit of rotation) And we need to get rid of the weekday references and stuff.

EDIT:

My proposal of new rules:

---------

1. Only one picture per contestant.

2. No voting for your own picture.

3. No previously used material. All photos must be fresh, shot for this challenge, and never displayed on any gallery / thread.

4. The winner of the last poll will set the next topic; if the same person stands as the winner two times in a row, he or she must choose another user to present the next topic.

5. In the event of a tie in the polls, the person who created the challenge casts the tie breaking vote.

6. Enhancements of the picture are allowed in terms of color management, curves, levels, crop, sharpening, etc. Adding or removing elements in the photo, brushed enhancements, or anything that diverts into photo manipulation territory will not be accepted.

7. The challenge starts when the challenge thread is opened. It is open for new entries for 5 (or 7) days, after which the vote poll is opened by the challenge starter. If he fails to do so, anyone is free to open the voting thread. The voting thread should have all the entries in it and have public voting to prevent cheating.

8. The voting will go on for 2 days, then the winner (or other person assigned to start a new challenge, see rule 4 and 5) starts a new thread named "The Photo Challenge - [name]", where [name] indicates the topic of the new challenge. If he fails to do so within the day the poll ends, the next person in the poll may do so.

10. Pictures should have a title to make them easy to identify, however this is optional.

11. Do not attach your entry to the thread, instead use an external host such as photobucket.com or imageshack.us, to allow hotlinking from the voting thread.

---------

Maybe we should have a set timezone for the days, I don't know...

Mr. Mu
August 28th, 2007, 06:08 AM
If 7 days are not too long for the crowd I would say seven, because there is a bigger chance I can enter. Sure I can shoot and develop if it's 5, but it's just so much more relaxed...:D

August 28th, 2007, 09:46 AM

I wouldn't mind, but it's up to the mods I guess. Mods, could you talk about it and then maybe set up a poll?
Both on if people want the new rules and on how many days the challenge should be open.
