what are 'points'?

when i go to my profile page, theres that little blue star with a number beside it. apparently these are my points... but what does that mean?

they're probably something completely pointless.. but now i'm curious!!

It is based on your "activity" level in that part of the forums, i.e. how much you post in your blog, leave comments for other members, etc.

I wouldn't worry about it--that part of the forum is being redone soon.
