The city was in extremely rough shape for a long time, but things have gotten a lot better of the past 6-7 years. There is still a lot of work that needs to be done, but most of the city's bad reputation is no longer deserved.

psh, you can still say that, downtown ain't so bad, but the rest of it is no joke.
i don't really go down there unless i have a reason too. i don't know why some people are being optimistic about detroit...

Don't get me wrong, Detroit has its reputation for good reason, but things are slowely but surely beginning to improve.
I'm not going to get into a big debate about the city's chances at revival, but the completion of the New Casino (with two more comming within a few years), the restoration of the Book Cadillac Hotel, and all the cool festivals and stuff that happen down at the cultural center are good signs.
If I'm going to live here I'm not going to give up on a city with such a rich history and culture I have to be Optimistic.

Anyways, I've been PMed by a few interested parties and it looks like we might actually be able to get a sketch group going.
The first meetings will most likely take place in and around the City's cultural center (this is by the DIA, CCS, and Wayne State University), the area is perfectly safe and is actually quite a beautiful.

Once I get things hammered out I will post details on the where and when.

It is looking like we will be able to meet for the first time on October 18 around 4:30 PM. We are planning on meeting in front of the DIA, if it is raining we could just meet over in the lobby of the Maccabees building. If anyone is interested feel free to show up.
