Well Iam doing wood burning as a finishing alternative on drum kits , or trying make it into something valid in the world of drums. Right now I am working on this concept/theme kit and the first thing is to sketch it out on the drum shells before I burn them.

This looks like it could turn out really cool. Are you going to color/stain it at all? And does burning the drum kit mess up the sound at all?

no it doesnt damage the shell to mess with sound quality.
