Hey, please dont lynch me for starting a new thread, but i was wondering if anyone had any more links like this hidden away?: http://www.posemaniacs.com/pose/randomviewer.html
I would like something similar with photographs or something more complex/real. Preferably something with a timer, so i can limit my time wasting.
The linked site IS great, but i find the computer generated models a bit dull, and the timer is very small (upto 90 second i think ).

I agree, the site is nice, but the way the muscles are just mapped on, it's very confusing seeing the outlines sometimes when the pose is in a difficult position. I wish they had a skinned version of them...And made them larger.

Larger? You can make them full-screened.

Button on the bottom right, rotatable etc.
I think the site you're looking for is a little too good to be true right now, it would be great but unless you're willing to pay you're probably stuck.
Also in IFX magazine, they often have free rotatable models from photograph at high-res; you should check it out.
Hope it helps,
peace

How about setting ACDSee or Irfanview or any image viewer with a slideshow and feed it images you chose? Or even set your screensaver to display images at regular intervals? Transform your screensaver into a study device!

But then id need to find loads of reference photos myself. Im not picky on what the reference pics are, i just enjoy the idea of a randomiser and a timer.
Are there any stock photo sites which have feeds for different categories? If there is i may be able to get someone to make it for me. Then i could share it with you guys.

i was thinking the same thing as qitsune... but alright then, go to flikr.com and put somebodies photos on a slide show - most of them have that feature.

.. but that wouldnt be random, or have a timer..
I dont think you understand what i desire. Im looking for a tool exactly the same as the pose maniac tool, but with different images and a longer timer.
( If you could link me to a suitable anatomy/random-human based flikr album, with no copyrights, it would help me get my own version of the pose maniac applet made. )

it could be random, and it does have a timer.
you can search for a group (http://flickr.com/search/groups). for example let's say 'portraits'. then you choose from among the groups with portraits and you get for example 'the flikr portrait gallery' group, or the 'portrait' group, or if you want more random you could do 'i shoot with film' group or '35mm' or 'black and white' etc etc.
underneath the title of the group you'll see something like:
'see all 275,006 photos' which you click, and then on the right you see - 'view as slide show'. you can then set the slide show timer to slow, medium, fast, pause it, skip to the next or go back.
no it isn't perfect, no it's probably not 100% like what you are looking for, but if you're creative with searching the groups or any person's selection of photos it can be used pretty effectively. other wise - like qitsune said, take the time to download some pics yourself and randomize them in your preferred slide show viewer.

but does it make me breakfast?

shit - it even does your drawings for you.

tensai - Know what youre saying, but thats exactly how ive done this for years. After seeing the pose maniacs tool i realise its a much better way of doing things. You know exactly how many seconds youre dedicating to your drawing, and each one is suitable for sketching, there is no time wasted.
There no need to be patronising. As i said if you could link me to a flickr album with lots of suitable copyright free images, then i could make the app myself.

There is a little program that one might find online, you can adjust several presets for timers, have a custom sound play when said duration has elapsed... etc...
http://easynews.dl.sourceforge.net/sourceforge/tea-timer/TeaTimer_1.5.3.zip
couple that with some slide show, and perhaps add 3 or so seconds to the timer as to allow clicking for the next image. Iono.

i think the op has an unhealthy fixation with 'time wasted'. probably the best thing you could do is 'waste' a lot more time on your drawings, a few hours at least.

....... Uh, yeah, thanks for the valuable addition to the thread. If youre not interested then stop bumping it up.

i assume this thread is to help you find a way to get better. looking at your work, i think you are going down the wrong path. validating the merit of this thread/proposal is less important than your overall growth as an artist no?
i am suggesting you reconsider your approach to how your own self-education. surely it's not beyond reproach. however, if you wish to continue w/ this approach at your own expense, well, you are certainly free to do so.

Chumps, so youre saying that because i came back here to a thread i started and continued to discuss options for gathering reference images and building a tool i could SHARE WITH THE COMMUNITY, im some kind of loser?..
If you want to share advice with me on a different approach, then please do so, but suggesting i dont spend my spare time building a tool that will help me get more sketching done is fucking idiotic and patronising.
Ive been reading this forum for a long time, and youve obviously been a member for the long time, but ive yet to come across someone who is truly patronising and disrespectful until now. :nohope:

i'll try to clarify once again, cause my previous posts are admitedly on the sarcastic/flippant side.
i think you are wasting your time by in effect, being so preoccupied with time. this is something many beginner's get caught up in, and i'm advising you not to do the same. your drawings in my opinion need a lot more time and care spent on them, not the opposite.
thus your preoccupation with non-copyrighted images/applet-gizmothings is misplaced.
if your heart is truly in this altruistic/for-the-community image sharing thing, cause deep down you just want to help people, then great. that is a good thing and i'm not saying that sarcastically.
what i'm saying is that your other priorties (like drawing, i'm assuming) will be neglected proportionately. if this is a worthwhile trade-off, great.
i don't know how to say that any more clearly.

Well i appreciate you coming back and making that clear.
I know what you mean, and i actually agree, but this is something i am looking at doing with spare time, when im not doing art or work.
I cant spend 24 hours a day drawing, my hands would fall off. :p
I would like to add my reason for doing timed drawings. I am trying to prepare for life drawing classes, and i know i will be expected to do timed exercises, and know basic body anatomy by heart.
