The aim is to produce 50 gestures by Sunday the 12th of August.

The gestures can be of anything, human, animal, aliens, pogo-sticking parliamentarians....and can be in any media, digi or traditional is fine.

In addition to this, participants can choose to do an animal study of their choice. The only conditions of the animal study is that it needs to be in motion. For example a running dog, a flying bat or a jumping horse. All media, b/w and colour are fine.

Come on soldiers! Flex those muscles!!

PS...critting each other is highly encouraged!! Let's help each other get better!

Okay got my 50 gestures done.

#'s 1 - 16 were all from the top of my head, and then I kind of hit a roadblock and couldn't think of any other gestures to draw. After looking through the forums for inspiration, I found out about pose maniacs and hammered the rest out.

great little site there, not to mention that it'll help me out with anatomy so much :D

Edit: Finished my animal study as well. I'm a sucker for Chihuahuas. Well, small dogs period. used photo reference

A new Spartan has arrived!
It's the 12th over here, so I challenged myself to a last minute entry. Churned these out in a little over an hour.

Gestures on the left are from head, on the right are pose maniacs.

Missed last week due to vacation. Spread these out over 2 days, total +/- 3hrs, not sure. No reference this time (apart from the elephant), had no comp at hand.

Crits etc;
tmyohlaing; Love how you added some poses shown from above and below. You're also doing both male and female. Some poses seem to be distorted by the photograph though.
shatteredhalo; welcome! new here too. Versatile poses, lots of foreshortening too. Can't think of useful crits I'm afraid, good stuff. I hate small dogs though.
HunterKiller; 1hr is fast as hell. Would love to see them more 'finished', though I know they're supposed to be sketches. Off topic; like your name, looking forward to SCII?

By the way; what's pose maniac?

I'm surprised how good of a practice this is. I already think the ones I did 2 weeks ago look pretty crappy. Long way to go still.

Anthis: Thanks for your comment. I like your figure gestures. For the animal study, I think the rear left leg of the elephant is a bit odd. Not sure but that's what I think.
Pose maniac is the website that artists can use for drawing figure with the time setting like 10 secs, 15 secs, 30 secs, so on.
Here's the website.

shatteredhalo: Thanks, but you can see all of my gestures are just that - gestures with the bare minimum. Your gestures actually have anatomy and detail. ;)
Anthis: I wouldn't be able to do any 'finished' gestures from the top of my head, because my anatomy sucks. :P
Definitely looking forward to SC2! :tihi:
Act.Appalled: I didn't know we could do vehicles? Cool ships anyway.
Adi.: Nice, clean gestures. Dig those fashion studies. I should take a hint - my costume design skills suck. :)

tmyohlaing - Nice poses man. as always
shatteredhalo - Hey good idea to put the muscle groups in the drawing man. Think i'll try a couple myself
HunterKiller - Great studies man. Love the birds dude
Anthis - Nice studies
Act.Appalled - good work!
Adi. - very nice man. love the clean linework.

I myseld did just a few last week. was kind of busy at work and too tired to draw when i got back home. That's bad i know :(

anyway here are the few i did. I really need to inprove my rendering so i thought it would be fun to put the values in there as well.

tmyohlaing; Yea, thanks for pointing that out, had a bad feeling about that one leg myself. Posemaniac seems useful, think I'll try that out next time, really in need of ref for this.
HunterKiller_; Same here, both on the anatomy and SC2 ;)
MeTaL-Mike; Thanks! nice value studies btw, straight on the pc or did you do pencil sketches first?
See you next round!
