Well I had never used pastel's (or more correctly, never used soft pastels and used very little of oil pastels) until a few weeks ago and I love them. It's like charcoal but with color, imagine that. Anyway, here's something I did a few days ago for one of my classes. The assignment was "Action: Something that would expend calories." and so I picked football. It's a portraiture class too, so we are kind of limited in what we can depict, but I like how it turned out.

Crits are welcome. Thanks.

If you're a video game fan, you might even be able to guess where I got the image from. ;)

Good...The texture of his helmet is really good. I also like the face mask but some of the forms and planes could could use some tweaking. Your choice for the assignment really works, though adding some sweat to his face would help it out even more.

fozzybar---it's a breathe-right strip, you stick it on your nose and it helps you get more air in through the nasal passage. Basically it helps you breathe better.

Thanks for the replies, and I agree about the picture still needing some working. I'm not entirely done with it but I've got a project I'm working on for the same class that it taking up a lot of my time. I was having a lot of trouble with his nose too, and it still doesn't look quite right to me.
