Hey, I'm new to these forums, I'd thought i'd start with a looser sketchbook than actual finished pieces, though I plan on finishing some soon...

Hands, partly referenced, goal was to draw man hands from woman references and vice versa.

staging and atmospheric perspective.

half of these figures are from models, the other half not.

this is a really nice way to start off a sketchbook... way to go....

I really like the figures that you drew... were those from moodels or from imagination?

Keep it up Cant wait to see more...

Wow, very good stuff, can't wait to see something you consider "finished" :)

The very last image with the guy - his head (chin in particular) doesn't work for me but I really can't be more precise than this. Maybe someone more qualified can tell you exactly what the problem is. Otherwise everything else looks really good. My fav is the girl with the wings - please finish that one hehe.

Looped_warrior: about half and half, the woman on the rocks was loosely referenced off a live model, the other figures the two in the middle were referenced from live models.

n1va: thanks for the critisizm on the chin! i actually didn't notice it till you pointed it out! I always tend to screw up a bit when I'm drawing in Isometric....

A quick update:

a study on Asiatic composition, like a scroll... or something.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v139/hakushi_304/shite/geisha.jpg

a compositional samurai piece, inks as well. (i realize the food is too large, i need to change that.... erk.)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v139/hakushi_304/shite/samurai.jpg

A series of story illustrations, done to the Legend of Cuchulainn.

Some Vis. Dev. stuff from class, really rough quick sketches of characters and really rough environments or "storybeats". Then just a couple of life drawing, done in pen, again, really quick stuff. Maybe 3 min - 7 min??

Crimm: thanks!
Towarlock: :D
Jigokuen: lol, i will.

Life drawing, drawing people who don't know that I'm drawing them, and drawing those that are fully aware :D

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v139/hakushi_304/sketchbook/sketchbook5small.jpg

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v139/hakushi_304/sketchbook/sketchbook4small.jpg

Again, a character concept, though its a work in progress. I'm tweaking the pose to not look so strange ( i believe the silhouette is giving off the broken pelvis look as well as the not so correct feet boot thingies.) and changing some elements in whatever it is he is wearing, its at this stage, still very much a rough kind of character.

The last character design has high potential, already he has personalty flowing through. Can't wait to see the update!

Great job on the last couple of posts. If I had anything to say about the character concept, it'd say to flesh out the pants a little more. Maybe add some compression folds to the bottom where the pants meet the boots, and maybe a seam or a sereis of folds/creases over the pelvis area, where the zipper would be. That's really the only spot where the form gets lost. Other than that, and what you're planning on fixing, it looks rad.

joaKimArt: lol, sure! Sorry this recent post doesn't have any nudes XD more workshops!

Apocalypse_Rex: Thanks, it's hard adjusting to pen, but it helps my line quality when i switch back to pencil and charcoal XD

zeo-x: Lol, yeah, I was pretty sure it was you :D Man, I'm just bumping into everyone recently.

Icharin: I'm trying my best to capture attitude, I feared it wouldn't be noticeable through the layers of digital painting, i'm glad someone had gotten the effect i intended.

Chromosome: Lol, i've always had a problem with that, its a recurring thing, urk, need to leave bad habits.

AmontilladoAg: I especially like her as well too, I was surprised, after that pose, that i had drawn that :D

Viran: lol, i do go to the same school he did :D not to say everyone's style is similar, just he was one of my influences :D

Sevans: I will, thanks XD

These are 5 minute studies, mainly focusing on cloth folds and stuff, real quick stuff.

really great stuff in here! The life dawings are really somethin! :rendered:

maybe take a shot at doing some studies of Sargent, for better understanding of color in painting, and some Zorn and Velazquez, tonalists, for how they render the figure with value.

Keep it up!

@Nettle_Mountain: Nono definitely not. The quick figure studies with a model were 2 min to 5 min poes. Those paintings took roughly 2 hours each or so, I'm just a beginner painter :D

@Kidult: Thanks!

@Chromosome: It should be the other way around!

@Sevans: Thanks, I've been trying to improve my rhythm and speed...

@TimGillette: Thank you :D

@Blaque: Thanks!

@Naztek: I'm glad you like them :D

@Kuraudo: Yeah, I must've been late at least 4 times cause the buses can't friggin arrive on time, but he was cool about it :)

Anyhow, a new sketches and a couple of oil paintings. First one is a portrait of a model... and second one is a Master Copy of Joaquim Sorollo.
