Hey all.....just thought I'd add something from my sketch pile. Wasn't really too happy with the result of the body casing.....any suggestions?.....I might just leave it and see how it looks coloured. I was mostly focused on the head and lost a lot of energy doing the body.

lookin solid, i think it needs some of those anime rotar blade fins on th eback and a tail! yeah...and boobies..kidding...but something to take the flat off the back would be good for it...can't wait to see it colored(coloured for the refined artisans)

Nice details. The line weight needs working on. The rear end looks like it's right above the head and a little flat.

hey good job, i like it, nice design although id work with line weights more, u seem to have similar line thickness all around so the piece can get confuzing in some areas where it gets really dense.

I'd say all this needs is a good, old-fashioned, civil war style cannon resting nicely on his back...or maybe not.
You could put some menacing looking, triceratops, dorsal things along the spine. I think it would look pretty good on a creature-esque mecha like this. Good stuff by the way.

Thanks for the crits all..thanks for the lineweight issue on this drawing.....pretty much apparent on all the drawings that I do......the reason I don't do lineweights (other than the fact that I'm superlazy) is that I usually rely on the colouring/shading in photoshop to create depth. 3 Years of doing lineweight drawings in architecture and I'm sick of it....Hope you all understand.....maybe one day I'll learn to love it again.....or maybe not.
Dakardaur:.....man....I wish there was an easy way to draw mechs......I look at reference material for hours on end. Master artists still do that too so it ain't all bad. here's a few things that inspire me to draw mechs....apache helicoptors....aircraft carriers....looking at really great mecha art.....the lines and forms used on some cars really help me...especially volkswagon for some reason.....even though my drawings don't end up looking like one.
I don't think this is helping...I'm just spitting out inspirational stuff........ummmmm try studying form and aesthetics....see what works and what doesn't.........I couldn't really tell you.

yeah i understnad with the line weight issue and all and ur right, u can make up for in usually with shading/coloring in most cases and with ur stuff colored it seems to work alright, but yeah, the only real way to get good at mechanics is to study real life machines and how things go together, once u know the rules, u can break em and make ur own machines, sound familiar?lol

3bleadpencil: actually, your "inspirational stuff" really helps!...i dunno really where to look at when tryin to draw sumthin other than me mind, tryin out wut ye use may help, it may not, but in all, it is a start.
And i never presumed it to be easy either...gosh! this mechanical bastards get tedious at times!!!!

nothing to be sorry for, 3Bleadpencil, it was worth the wait.
What better than to come home after a tediuos day to find such a good piece of art to inspire and cheer me up?
red or blu...cant decide...lol
Great colors...btw, judging by this dude's "anatomy" and positioning, i'd say you could (and should) see more of his front left leg...that's an opnion coming from an unexpirienced child, so i could be wrong :D
