So I borrowed a Wacom for a few weeks/months from a friend... I have to say, any tips or tricks you guys and gals have for a noob like me I'd appreciate them!

I have found that it's hard to stay within the limits of a 4x6 inch space when translating to a 1024x768 blank image in PS, throws me waay off. I have honestly had better luck drawing/sketching and then scanning into PS, how long does it take to get used to a tablet? And how many of you pro's use one?

I've got a dinky little 4x5 wacom that I use with my 22" widescreen lcd, and usually I work at 3000x3000 resolution, and it's not weird at all. It can be kind of annoying when trying to make tiny little stokes while zoomed out, but nothing too irritating. You just have to get used to it.

There's no shame at all in scanning in paper drawing and then painting them in photoshop, even professionally in game development studios. That's probably the best approach until the tablet feels more natural to you, which shouldn't take long. No one says you have to do everything with the wacom tablet.

I got mine about a year ago. At fist I actually thought I was pretty good at it. Painting and blending came to me alright, but it wasn't for a while that I realized I needed a lot more practice on the basics (as well as colour itself) before I got back into it. So after a long time of collecting dusk and holding beer bottles, I'm finally back into it.

Mine's a fancy 9X12 though (got it from ebay, 400) so I don't have to worry about overshooting it :^^: In hindsight though I could have put the purchase off for a while.

EDIT: sometimes I sketch and scan, sometimes I do my linework in PS. Not really sure why I change it up every so often.
